Winning the lottery was that it was the only way they could possibly explain how a normal average earning family could own a house in London

Feminist box ticking.

My only issue is Catherine Tate's totally appalling acting. I am sure she is a wonderful human being, but she is a terrible actor.

The doctor gave her a winning lottery ticket as a wedding present. He knew she was struggling for money when he left her behind so he remedied the situation.

What they had to explain is why the character wasn’t wealthy. I thought the explanation was quite fitting to the story and character.

I really enjoyed it, only noticed one overly woke moment with the pronouns, but otherwise very reminiscent of the 10th Dr in general, which was my Dr who, I haven't liked any of the others as much. Donna was one of my favourite companions, though I prefer her as regular Donna who doesn't have a clue what's going on rather than Dr Donna.

I quite liked the female Dr, but the virtue signalling ruined it for me a bit, too in your face and preachy

ThePineapplePrincess · 26/11/2023 16:47

No way I’m watching it. Dr Who has gone woke, and they’ll pay for it.

Eddielizzard · 26/11/2023 16:53

I want to rinse my eyes with bleach after watching Donna. She's great as a comedian, but jeez she really can't act.

Mountainhowl · 26/11/2023 16:58

I think Donna is probably one my favourites because there's no underlying desire to sleep with the Dr, I liked the others but they're all 😍 over the Dr and want more, its quite nice to have one that is just platonic best friends

This is one of the reasons why Bill is my favourite. It's more of a grandfather/granddaughter professor/student thing. Really refreshing.

Ah I haven't seen those ones, I struggled to get into it as much after tennant, he was the Dr I got into it with and struggled to get into it after 🙈 I didn't mind 11 but started watching quite a long time after he started and I'm not 100% sure I finished his run. I did go back and watch ecclestons season just to get rose's backstory but couldn't gel with him at all

But I don't like change really, when I finish a show I tend to feel a bit lost and end up looking for similar and nothing is quite right! So I've seen a few shows multiple times and not an awful lot else!

I didn't mind the female doctor in terms of the doctors personality, but didn't enjoy the writing, I came back into it because I knew the actress from broadchurch and thought itld give it a go, I'll have to go back and watch the seasons in between that I skipped!

The use of diverse characters in a story is not a bad thing - and Dr Who has had diverse casting previously, and it’s felt natural to the setting and story.

It is the ham fisted writing which is terrible, far too much telling rather than showing which means we get a lecture rather than a story.

Except the writing was much better…no telling. It just happened.

Albioncreed · 26/11/2023 21:38

Sadly, I just couldn’t get into it at all! Everything felt very fake in the programme last night (I know. A time travelling alien programme isn’t supposed to be realistic)
