anal fissures + cut on the side of my mouth?

I’ve had what I believe to be anal fissure for a few years now (not the same one, but it’s been on and off for at least 3-4 years now). It’s textbook symptoms- excruciating pain when going to the toilet (it honestly feels like I’m being ripped open) and blood smears on both the stool and when wiping. They initially thought I had IBD but thankfully my bloods were clear including calprotectin when tested several times. I’ve had anal examinations and a colonoscopy and which were both clear and no fissures were found however it wasn’t done during a flare up IYSWIM so not sure if that’s why they weren’t found. But I’ve tried everything available to help and NOTHING has really helped or made a significant difference. I’ve had treatment from the GP because even though they didn’t find any fissures they said with my symptoms it was likely. Tonight I had quite a bad episode- I‘be never had pain quite that bad. I feel fine now I’ve been to the toilet, but it was utterly horrendous at the time. And there was quite a lot of blood too. I’ve also noticed that when this flares up I seem to get a cut at the edge of my mouth too. I’ve no clue if this is a coincidence or not but it just seems weird timing that everytime the fissures flare up, the cut on the side of my mouth starts too. My mouth and skin isn’t even dry- it’s just like a fissure at the side of my mouth

has anyone had this and have advice? I’m at my wits end with this all and it’s having a horrendous impact on my life

No advice on the anal fissures but the cut at the side of your mouth could be angular cheilitis, I get this when I'm low on b vitamins and iron. It cleared up really really quickly for me taking ferrous sulfate and b vitamin complex. Might be worth a try.

I had surgery for prolapse, haemorrhoids and fissures when I was in my forties/ They didn't find the prolapse until I was knocked out on the table. It was a difficult time waiting for the operation, and you have my sympathy. Eating tinned pear works wonders on the digestive side of things and pain free toilet runs. But you should ask for a hospital referral and to be tested for crohns etc. Mouth ulcers are common in people with rectal diseases, and mine were sore before I had treatment. You also need iron testing. I was very anaemic due to bowel problems and bleeding. You think it is a fissure but that needs verification from another consultant, and you need further investigation to get answers. Without trying to scare you, my hand tumour was diagnosed as benign at excision in 2019 (a mistake). It was diagnosed as benign again after removal in 2023 when it came back (another mistake). Then the genetics report revealed rare aggressive cancer so I just had an operation to treat the sarcoma, and I am now missing a large part of my hand thanks to incompetence. If you have symptoms of skin or bowel trouble, have them investigated.
