...to dislike so viscerally those bloody Heelie things?

Have told 10yr old, who is planning on blowing 40 of her hard-saved pocket money on a pair of these revolting things, that she can have only them if her papa is willing to take her to the subsequent fracture clinic appointments. Cos I'm all fracture-clinicked-out after first daughter's run of broken bones in 2006.

Am I being unreasonable to dislike these things to this extent?

Oh they are not so bad, DS1 has a pair and lives in them outside school!

You may not have to much of a problem as loads place have banned them!

Miggsie · 12/03/2008 18:23

No, I hate them too, they unbalance a girl's pelvis and knock the sacrum out of place...they are CRAP

pukkapatch · 12/03/2008 18:23

my dc are probly the only ones in the country who dont have them. and they wont as long as i have something to do wtih it.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 18:24

YANBU. I think they should be banned everywhere.

NaughtyNigel · 12/03/2008 18:27

THEY ARE FUN! LIGHTEN UP!

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 12/03/2008 18:29

At last like minded people!

They are everywhere at the moment, and I despise them! Not only do they damage the pelvis but probably everyother bone in the spine, they force the wearer to force so distortedly I think they should actually be banned altogether. And i actually know of some people who let their dc's wear them all day everyday. Let dd get a pair of good old fashioned rollerskates, not these deathtrap skates pretending to be shoes!

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 12/03/2008 18:30

I mean force the wearer to WALK distortedly!, phew i'm all worked up.

Gawd i dread them- the number of times I've ahd to dive out the way of some kid skating through the aisles in them in the shops!

And usually their charming aprents are laughing at me- I mean, is it really that funny if their delightful offfspring knocks a 9 mnths pregnant woman flying??? really?

Fortunately boys think they're naff, they have proper skates but no wish to own heelies.

Christywhisty · 12/03/2008 21:05

My DD grew out of hers last year, but I never saw any child being dangerous in them. Proper skates were far more dangerous than heelies as it is so easy to loose your balance on them.

gymgym10 · 12/03/2008 21:13

My dd's have Cruz shoes - much cheaper & although they don't live on them they love them when they use them

SlartyBartFast · 12/03/2008 21:15

hate them too,
crap,
you wouldnt catch kids roller blading in the shops!
so why heelies in the shops!!

Christywhisty · 12/03/2008 22:12

gymgynm my daughter's were cruz shoes as well, they were a bargain compared to Heelies

hotcrossbunny · 12/03/2008 22:29

I'm always at the number of children walking, in effect, on their tip toes. It can't be good for their long term posture and development...

FAQ · 12/03/2008 22:31

I want a pair of them

LaComtesse · 12/03/2008 22:38

My dd is banned from having Heelies even though her cousin has a pair - it can't be good walking on tippy toes some of the time and then having to lift the toes in order to skate (or Heely) along.

I'd be interested to read a podiatrists opinion of them .

itsahardknocklife · 12/03/2008 22:51

Oh I can't stand them. Bloody kids scooting all over the place knocking people over and looking smug. Grrrrrrr. Surely not good for the bones.
