To wake the baby

Posting for traffic…

My 3 month old DD has been sleeping since half past one. I woke her up to feed at four but she fell back asleep.

She was exhausted as she didn’t go down to sleep last night very well (only slept from 11pm to 7:30) and only slept 20 minutes before now today (despite best efforts).

Im thinking I should wake her so she sleeps tonight but I’m I don’t think she’s getting enough sleep generally.

Really struggling with his much I should be letting her nap at this stage (when we het her to go to sleep!)

So should I wake the baby??

I would. She’s still so little at 3 months. Wake her for her feeds

If a baby needs a certain amount of calories and liquids in 24 hrs and they dont get it in the day hours, they will wake during the night hours to get it. On that basis I would always wake my little ones during the day for a feed but not at night (unless ill or underweight)

My (female and a mother) gp was so stupid and said there's no need to wake a sleeping baby, not even for food. Ended up in hospital. You do what you think is right. Trust your gut x

Totally depends on the baby but with mine at 3 months that wouldn't be a given. If she needs the sleep then by waking her now she could just end up overtired and even harder to settle later. I'd personally still go with the flow at this point and take my cues from her, unless you have concerns that she's not well (how was she at 4pm when she was feeding?)/not feeding enough.

I think it depends on your child and your parenting style. Some people like set times and rigid naptime, in which case they'd be advocating to wake at the end of the nap window. Personally that didn't work for us and we just went with the flow (still do) so I wouldn't be waking yet. I know that doesn't help, but there really isn't a 'right' answer

I aways woke Dts for feeds, we were told
To by the hospital.

As long as she fed at 4 before going back to sleep, I'd leave her be till 7. She obviously needs it.

We were told to wake our prem baby if needed for feeds every four hours, as although most babies will wake when they need food, the real tinies may not.

Definitely wake the baby! It sounds like you might be in for another late night tonight. I learnt the hard way with my first, that a loose routine at this age will make a huge difference as they get older. If you have a bad night, still try to keep to the routine as much as possible
