To not drive car before insurance verdict?

So my car is driveable but was badly damaged by a fallen tree, in our work car park. Work are kindly looking at going through their insurance to cover it, and I’ve sent a quote. I feel uncomfortable driving my damaged car because it reminds me of the experience, of being inside the car when it happened, Also, I’m self conscious driving it while damaged. Thirdly, I’m nervous that say if someone hit me while driving, and the other claim isn’t through yet/approved. Wouldn’t this massively over complicate the first claim then? AIBU to use public transport until it’s sorted? I’ve never had anything like this in my life, never a scratch on the car. So forgive me if I sound clueless !

Call your insurance company and ask them what their policy says.

Up to you but don't assume it will be covered by you employer's insurance just because it was their tree. They have to be legally liable - for example if someone warned them the tree was likely to fall and they did nothing.
If it was unforeseen due to extreme weather, you'll probably need to claim on your own policy.
