To leave the NHS?

I work in the NHS, band 4 in London so top salary range of around 33k. I haven’t been there for long and this is good money for me. I like my job but no room for progression.
I’m considering going for a local authority job, slightly more money but main reason is more flexibility to WFH.
would I be crazy to leave the nhs?? I’m worried I’ll leave for more flexibility and there’s actually no guarantee in the council won’t start requesting people come in to the office more in the future so my main reason for leaving would no longer be valid.
Does anybody have experience with LA jobs?
All I hear is ‘You’d be mad to leave the NHS’. I felt very lucky to get the job so I feel like I should stay but I don’t know I can see myself doing the same role forever.

Council jobs have similarly good conditions, I think. I’d go for it!

Well I’m applying so we’ll see

Can you be sure there will not be LA job cuts in the future? I'd feel more secure in the NHS, particularly in the current and likely future political situation....

This is something I’ve thought about actually and it is the type of role that would be dependant on funding. Although it is permanent.

In struggle to get back in to nhs later down the line if needed as my type of role does not often come up

There are so many vacancies including admin in the NHS. I wouldn’t worry about it. If you’re top of band 4, just try (if you are interested in progressing) in getting the experience in an LA job to go for B5 next time. Take the lead rolling out new processes. Agree to try new things. Take all the training you can. Good luck!

I have no admin experience so I’d struggle to get a band 4 admin role, let alone a band 5. Im pretty much stuck at band 4 unless I go to uni which I’m not going to.

Just out of interest, why are you ruling out uni? You may well be able to get funding through the NHS depending on what you want to do. Personally if job security is your priority, I would stay where you are. I Personally think the NHS is a crap employer, but it's definitely secure.

Is it when doctors are being replaced by far less qualified and experienced PAs, who bizarrely get paid a hefty percentage more! Madness!
