How do you get internet to a mobile home?

Apologies, no idea where I should have posted this for help, but:
Daughter has a live-in job, has a mobile home, but there's no phone or internet to the mobile home. How does she get broadband connected, and any tips as to what companies to go with / avoid?
Happy for this to be moved to a more appropriate place, just can't work out where.
All help hugely appreciated.

You can easily get MiFi (Mobile Wifi) devices these days through a lot of providers. It's essentially a little internet router with a sim card and it behaves like a mobile hotspot.

It's easy enough to compare online but the main problem is signal. Don't pick a provider unless you know there's good reception at the site of the mobile home. During the first lockdown, our organisation managed to get 40 ipads for older people and MiFi devices with 2 years of data through Vodafone. It was enough for basic internet needs but it was really inconsistent in terms of who could get signal depending on where in the city they lived and the type of building they lived in.

Ask her to check if she has good phone signal at the site and, if she does, maybe explore whether her own provider offers one.

Also, if she can get onto a phone contract with unlimited data, she can use her own phone as a hotspot but, again, it's signal dependant.

Just make sure she's VERY careful not to agree to any packages where the data isn't enough for her. Don't judge it based on her average usage with her phone because most people do the things that drain the most data at home when they're connected to WiFi so it doesn't show against your mobile data usage.

Hopefully some others can give other options if signal is an issue.

As above, we have a router thingy that runs off mobile data that we can take to different properties to be able to have WiFi. Clearly I’m not very technical, but I know it has to have decent phone signal to work

I know my DH sometimes runs his zoom meetings etc off his phone as he has unlimited data and our actual wired in internet connection can be really rubbish.

Caterina99 · 21/11/2023 13:29

(We live near a phone mast so our mobile phone reception is better than our wired in internet). not helpful if you’re somewhere with terrible phone signal)

You need a data sim in a mifi for good internet. Popit mobile have good packages 100gb for £25 per month, we use them in our motorhome.

Maryamlouise · 21/11/2023 13:40

Starlink though probably the above options are cheaper

idontlikealdi · 21/11/2023 14:12

A static or one that drives around? We had a regular router and sky connection in our mobile (static)

SecretsOfSunshine · 21/11/2023 14:18

I have 100gb on a mobile sim from EE. It’s £13 a month and covers me hotspoting my laptop for work and streaming comfortably

TeapotCollection · 21/11/2023 14:19

No personal experience but I’ve heard Quickline are very good

Biddie191 · 21/11/2023 18:30

idontlikealdi - a static one.

SecretsOfSunshine - wow! She's with EE on her mobile, but that's what she pays for 25gb. How did you get that deal?

Thanks all, plenty to look at. EE is the only network that she can get any signal on where she is. I will check if they do Mifi - not heard of this before. Much appreciated xxx
