How long did you party for, if you did?

I wish I’d done it longer.

I started being quite naughty around age 13, which looking back seems so young now. A nice, middle class background in a nice area, my parents had no idea. My friends and I sought excitement and we smoked and drank, later drugs and many clubs/raving etc..it was very full on for a while and great fun. I met my Dh at 17, we had fun but things calmed, we went out with friends to the pub a lot, some drugs, sometimes clubbing with a friend from college but not that often. At 23 we moved abroad and had a few crazy ish years…after that we sort of settled down. I went on works do’s with the girls sometimes, travelled a lot but no dancing etc, now have mum friends and go out for lunches and dinners sometimes, but nothing wild..mid 40’s now.
Looking back, I had so much energy late twenties/early thirties, still looked great, still felt very young and so on…why wasn’t I still going out lots and living it up..no kids, mortgage or responsibilities..
When did you stop partying so much and do you miss/regret not doing it for longer (if you’ve stopped that is!)

I was drinking and partying from 15 until around 28. By 29/30 I settled down and stopped drinking as decided to have a baby. I rarely drink now and never go out clubbing. I'm late 30s and feel old and ugly now.

Same as@FoFanta. Lived it for years but had a defining moment one 3am in a club far from home. The coach wasn’t collecting us til 6am but all I wanted was a comfy sofa and a cuppa. Never went out that big again!

Sahlives · 19/11/2023 22:04

Partied hard from 21 to 31. Clubbing, Ibiza, nights out in London (worked in city). Met DH, stopped the wild partying. Babies at 35 onwards. Now I dread nights out.
I love a boozy lunch though.

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 19/11/2023 22:12

I partied if you could call it that from about 14 at house parties, 16 at local pubs clubs. Then hit 18 and went to uni at St. Andrews where had madness of raisin weekends,.KK and OTC balls. These days am asleep by 10!

@Youcannotbeseriousreally But did you do it all the years or come back to it?

Took some time out whilst the kids were small ( though would still get together for dinner and drinks etc here)

Abouttimemum · 19/11/2023 22:15

17-25ish. Then I got a hard core job and had to be on top of my game. I don’t miss it to be honest and rarely drink these days! Much happier in myself than when I was a teen/twenties.

Amyalexandrer · 19/11/2023 22:17

I partied hard till I was 30 when I got pregnant with my first. Full on festivals, all night parties, drugs, booze, sleeping in the office on a Thursday night, carrying on secretly in work the next day, you get the idea.
Stopped it all dead at 30 and have barely drunk since. I think it was just the right time for me to stop. I do everything 100%, now I'm in parenting mode 100%, I'm all or nothing.

BendingSpoons · 19/11/2023 22:25

I had a great time at uni (18-22) but it tailed off after that. Pub focus rather than clubs. I didn't hugely miss it. Late 30s now and seeking out pub hour clubbing. I can't hack the dancing til 3am stuff now.

LadyMacB · 19/11/2023 22:35

I didn’t go out proper until I was 17, but spent all of my 20s doing so. I slowed down slightly in my 30s - for example, work nights fell away, was always weekends - but continued really up until DD was born when I was in my very late 30s. I still have a decent big night out every 1-2 months but they tend to be starting and finishing earlier, a bit more meal / cocktail bar based, than the pub crawls of old.

GaggleTheGoose · 19/11/2023 22:40

I started at 15 and never stopped.
Slowed down a bit when the kids came along, but never stopped.
Apart from drugs, I never took any because I've always hated them with a vengeance.

Abstractreader · 19/11/2023 22:59

This makes me laugh.

I'm just cut from a different cloth.

Had my eldest at 18. Am now in my early 30's so eldest is a teen. Middle and youngest both in primary school.

Most of my school friends have just started having children. They will be starting the school runs in their mid to late thirties, some will start at 40+, spend their forties and early fifties with kids at home.
I'll be done and dusted by 43.

Well not quite as DS2 is disabled and will likely be at home for longer but I've given myself the best chance of being around to look out for him for a decent portion of his life.

I don't have any problem with the partying etc. but it's just not me. I love a holiday with a few cocktails and a pub night here and there but I'm not a huge drinker.

I've done nox, once, years ago on a night out.

But I've climbed mountains, done bungee jumps, ziplining and a lot of watersports, so perhaps I just get my kicks differently 😂

VeronicasCloset · 19/11/2023 23:03

16 - 23/24. Then got engaged, married and pregnant in quick succession and morphed into some Stepford wannabe! Slightly more moderate now I’m nearing 40.

I wished I’d travelled more than I wished I’d partied more.

StarDolphins · 19/11/2023 23:06

I partied up until 37 (starting to get bored around 35). Every weekend out all night until 10am then sleeping/on sofa all day sun then back to work then repeat. Went to Ibiza at every opportunity. I was always last out, always a party babk at my flat.

Spent all my working week planning outfits for the next weekend & I had a very lovely & exciting life. I’m glad I did it & hadso much fun but that life has gone for me now.

I had my DD at 41 & my life is so simple now, I have 2 glasses of Prosecco on a Fri & sat & go out once maybe every 2 months but I’m wanting to be home by 10 or I’m trying to encourage a sat long lunch instead so I do t have to be out at night!

Orangesandsatsumas · 19/11/2023 23:08

18 until 31. Had my first child at 32. Could maybe say 16 to 32.

vernatheraven · 20/11/2023 18:56

15 till early thirties.

Happy now with a cup of tea and an oodie. Maybe an edible once every couple of months if I have a night to myself. This still means an oodie and tea just with a pizza and maoms.

I went to my last festival this year. There was no where to sit and I was astounded by the rubbish. I'm now too old I think. I'm early forties.

Scottishskifun · 20/11/2023 19:00

Stopped hectic nights out with clubbing around 27 I think.
Still had late nights out til around 31. Now 37 have the occasional meal out followed by pub every 4 months or so.
