DS becoming insecure

QInsecure · 19/11/2023 12:14

DS is 12 and has ASD, Lately he’s been getting upset with his body, I know that’s rather typical but I’m talking about crying about it and saying he doesn’t know what to do. Obviously I’m comforting him as best I can but it is distressing. Any ideas or advice?

What's upsetting him about his body? Hard to offer any advice without that bit.

He said a few things and gets in a bit of a tiz over it. He’s not fat or even chubby but mentions that his belly is too be and he’s got fat around his sides, also says his privates down below are small

You could have a look at some books like diary of a wimpy kid - the ugly truth or similar?

It hard because a lot of books are aimed for girls (which is great of course!) but it does tend to leave the boys out when they struggle too.

Also see if you can figure out where he's getting these thoughts from. Tv? School?

I think it’s just something he’s picked up from media in general to be honest, like films and shows. There always seems to be jokes about things like penis size in things these days and from what I can tell it just worries him.

Is it his penis size he’s insecure about then?
