Next Saturday…a real tree, will it last?

Yes, provided you don’t erect it next to a radiator and you must keep it in water.

Dunno - but I have to be away for work the first two weeks of December, so we're getting ours next weekend and seeing how we go!

MeinKraft · 18/11/2023 20:24

I got a real one at the start of December last year and it lasted ok. It was well away from radiators.

Sallycinnamonyouremyworlddd · 18/11/2023 20:25

Will not be near any radiators, mot sure we normally have it in water though 🤔😬
Does it seem too early too?

I get mine the weekend after the 5th - it usually lasts until after New Year but when I put it out for recycling it's definitely on the way out.

Nousernamesleftatall · 18/11/2023 20:29

No. It will be dead by Christmas. A water base will help a little.

RoseAndRose · 18/11/2023 20:29

Advent Sunday is quite late this year (3 Dec) and from then until Twelfth Night is 5 weeks.

Not sure how much more than that a tree would last. But if you're only adding one more week so it should be OK

QueSyrahSyrah · 18/11/2023 20:29

As above, stand it away from a heat source and keep it well watered.

The trees that are bought in the middle of December haven't necessarily been cut any later than those bought in November...

sixteenfurryfeet · 18/11/2023 20:30

There's loads in pots this year it seems, so you might have reasonable luck with one. Keep cool and well-watered.

Sallycinnamonyouremyworlddd · 18/11/2023 20:32

I’m sure last years was on a wooden stand never watered, am I imagining that 😬

We got one in a pot for this reason (also away in December so want to make the most of it!) normally we chop our own and then it lasts absolutely ages, if in a cool spot and watered it should be fine!

Concannon88 · 18/11/2023 21:04

Not in my experience no

Autumndays22 · 18/11/2023 21:09

It will be fine. As others have said, keep it away from radiators / fire and top up the water daily. Cut trees, like cut flowers, last longer in water

Get a nordman fir. We got one 1st December last year, put it in the bay window next to a radiator and had hardly any drop until we took it down a few days after New year.

Year before last we put a nordman fir in our builders skip after Christmas and it still had almost all its needles in June.
