To ask what this could be on my DD scalp and hair?

My DD is 4.5 and in reception. No sign of any lice. I wash her hair regularly with child’s farm shampoo and conditioner for curly hair and make sure it’s washed out properly. Is it dandruff? It’s very thick, flaky and yellow. This stuff just keeps coming back. Thank you!

It looks like the sebhorric dermatitis I get - cradle cap. I use T-Gel if it flares up but I don’t think it’s suitable for children. Best to ask a pharmacist for an appropriate treatment shampoo.

My eldest had terrible cradle cap well into primary school. I ended up oiling her scalp with baby oil and combing it out with a nit comb. Nothing else worked to shift it.

My dd had cradle cap until about age 6. I bought the cradle cap shampoo again

I noticed this on DS when he was about 7 (no scalp issues up til then). Turns out the problem was I'd been washing his hair with a very gentle baby type shampoo which just wasn't cutting it any more - maybe his skin had changed to producing more oil or something. After treating the flaky bits with various ointments to loosen them and comb them out I switched to Head & Shoulders as his shampoo and he's been fine since. So I'd try a different shampoo in case it is a similar cause.

Cradle cap.

Unexpectedly found that treating head lice with Hedrin massively improved it!

This was our exact experience with it! Probably around 4/5 had to do a head lice treatment (she didn't have them but her sister did) and it pretty much cleared it up. She'd had it since being a baby.
