I'm clueless about London transport. She'll be going on her own. Which Premier Inn is easiest to get to The 02? (peninsula)? She's looked at Canning town but a Google search says no direct tube there. Which one will she be best booking?

How old is she?

IGotItFromAgnes · 16/11/2023 08:36

There is a direct tube from the O2 to Canning Town, although it’s going to be busy after an event there and it’s not the nicest place to walk around late at night. Can she look on the Premier Inn and Travelodge websites and put in O2 as a location, sorting by distance?

IGotItFromAgnes · 16/11/2023 08:36

It’s the Jubilee line she’d need - direct tube from North Greenwich (right by the O2) to Canning Town

Rainbowhairanddontcare · 16/11/2023 08:46

She'll be just turned 20 but has adhd so very impulsive and panics at times if she's anxious. The Canning Town Premier Inn says it's close by. Is that 1 OK then?

Westferry is directly on the DLR, right opposite the station entrance

SoRainbowRhythms · 16/11/2023 08:48

Canning Town isn't the nicest place, albeit only one stop away. If I was an anxious person I wouldn't like walking around there on my own.

The Pilot is a pub with rooms right next to the arena.

There's a hotel literally down the road... walking distance but I can't remember which one...

wobytide · 16/11/2023 08:51

There is a Holiday Inn Express a 15 minute walk away down the main road which doesn't need any transport links

Yes that's the one I meant

Rainbowhairanddontcare · 16/11/2023 09:22

Unfortunately Hol Inn is £218 so way out of her budget!

On the very rare occasion I've made a trip out my parents have very kindly always contributed to accommodation that doesn't mean I need buses, trains or taxis to the venue but can walk within 5-10mins as I have adhd

Comedycook · 16/11/2023 09:46

Op...I grew up close to there...there's a hotel called the Clarendon in blackheath...I have never stayed there so can't comment on what it's like but blackheath is a very nice area and you can get a bus from near that hotel to the O2 or a very short taxi ride...

Comedycook · 16/11/2023 09:54

You'd obviously have to check bus times...not sure if it's an all night service or stops at some point in the evening...but it's the 108 if you wanted to check on the tfl website.

Hbh17 · 16/11/2023 09:56

Canning Town is dead easy - much more so than heading West on the Tube. There is an Ibis next to the station

Or try Holiday Inn Express North Greenwich, which is only a 10 minute walk from the 02, and so you save a lot of time by not needing to queue into the Tube station.

thebellagio · 16/11/2023 09:56

We always stay at the Premier Inn at Westfield Stratford. Its only 3 stops away from the O2, plus as soon as you walk through the shopping centre from the tube to the hotel, it's safe - it's well lit, there's lots of people around, it's warm and dry

FrenchandSaunders · 16/11/2023 09:56

Premier Inn at Waterloo is a much nicer one and busier around there at night/safer.

Motnight · 16/11/2023 09:57

Get your DD to download the CityMapper app - it's really useful

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 16/11/2023 10:33

Moxy at Stratford also very good

Which are the tube stations you use to get there please?

Canning Town premier inn is opposite the station. Station is busy and well lit, on a big road. One stop on the jubilee line to North Greenwich (I2). She will be fine.

Jubilee line from North Greenwich to Stratford. It will be less busy/shorter queues to go east than west into central London and Stratford will have more options than Canning Town.

Apologies, next to, not opposite. In a brand new building. That area of Canning Town is really gentrified now. I wouldn’t bother going to Stratford, which is further on the train, and a longer walk, and at night the shopping centre will either be closed or deserted. From the O2 it is a quick walk to the tube station, which will be busy, and in scanning Town the same- 2 min walk maximum along well lit and busy road

Blackcountryexile · 16/11/2023 12:42

Backing up what @Nevermind31 said. Two minutes walk from the tube station straight along a main road. You're certainly not walking through Canning Town. I've stayed at that Premier Inn and it's nice.

Rainbowhairanddontcare · 16/11/2023 13:35

Thanks so much everyone
