neighbour texted me this morning at 8 am to let partners dogs out at lunch time as her & partner out for the day.I didn’t pick up txt until 10.30. I have responded yes I would but would have appreciated more notice. She declined having my dog whilst I went for my covid jab. ( she has separation anxiety)The time before txted me on the day to look after them overnight feeding them letting them out at night & morning. Knew it was a bit of family issue but felt one of them could have come back to sort the dogs out. Not the first time I have cared for them overnight. Feel they are taking me for granted . One of them have had my dog for 30mins whilst I went to the doctors a couple of times she wfh. The other one barely talks to me they are her dogs. Feel sorry for the dogs locked up 8 + hours a day. AIBU

Just say no. They're taking the piss.

HeckyPeck · 15/11/2023 14:57

I wouldn't mind letting their dog out at lunchtime on occasion, but not when they decline to do the same for you!

Catza · 15/11/2023 15:23

They are their dogs, not yours. While I appreciate you feel sorry for the animals, your kindness needs to be reciprocated.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 15/11/2023 15:26

YANBU they are being very cheeky. Though to be honest I probably would still help for the dogs sake not theirs. Still it’s understandable if you don’t want to as it’s not your responsibility.

Catpuss66 · 15/11/2023 18:38

Thanks everyone needed to hear that.

This sort of situation is why boarding kennels exist. What if YOU had gone away?

Well they are still not home I let the dogs out at 1pm not sure what time they went this morning. If I had gone away they would have just left them Hope they poo in the house.

I wouldn't mind doing it if I'm home anyway. But it's up to you. If you aren't happy doing it then don't.

Meeting · 15/11/2023 18:47

Classic 'taker' behaviour. They think you're a 'giver' and so will continue to take take take.

I don’t mind, it’s the not asking until they have gone or just about to go, being taken for granted. Then the not talking to me hardly unless asking for somthing. The one who owned the house WAS really nice, then got married within 8 months of meeting the partner, it’s the partner who doesn’t speak.

DisquietintheRanks · 16/11/2023 19:48

YABU not to reply "sorry no can do" if it bothers you (it would bother me).

Catpuss66 · 16/11/2023 22:50
