To not buy DD any toys at Christmas?

I have bought DD (6)lots of dolls, polly pocket, Lego, soft toys, play sets etc and she never plays with any of it. She loves arts and crafts and games. I was thinking of getting her books, a science kit, board games, arts and craft sets, a spy kit, a Yoto player and rollerskates (plus some small extras), but her list does have toys on it, so I feel conflicted, as she's young and in my mind should be playing with toys. She's asked for some dolls, LOL and Bluey things but I feel like they're just going to end up in a box. Would I be unreasonable to not buy her any toys, or if I do then just one? I don't want to be a Scrooge, she'll get plenty, but I just feel like any toys will be mainly untouched. I will caveat this by saying I've bought her a flying fairy but that was all I was planning on getting as far as toys go.

I made this mistake when my daughter was young, there was a particular toy that was all the rage at the time, and it was high on her wish list, but I KNEW if I got it for her, it would be another one minute wonder, so didn't get it. She was SO disappointed, and kept on about it all Christmas Day, but when she did get it for her birthday a month later, she did with it exactly what I had predicted, so I was glad I hadn't spent my own money on it. Therefore, if there is a particular toy on her list that she seems really keen to have, I would definitely get that, rather than disappoint her, even if it does turn out that she doesn't play with it. However, if she doesn't seem that bothered, then I think you'd be safe with the things that you've mentioned.

I think it depends on how important the toys on her list are to her, if she REALLY wants a doll top of her list, I’d get it. If she really wants a science kit, but also wants a doll further down the list then probably not. Great time of year to get her to sell those old dolls for some pocket money though.

My daughter is the same age and exactly the same. She has a play room bursting with barbie and sylvanians and polly pockets. Yet she never touches them. I didn't get her many toys for her birthday and she didn't seem to mind!

I’m not buying my kids any toys this year.
youngest just had a birthday so got loads and oldest birthday just after Christmas.
they always get plenty of toys from family.

I asked if they wanted a toy (5f) was talking about barbie dream house or a years pass to theme park.
both 5&3 year old said theme park so that’s what they are getting.

I think things like roller skates, and science/art kits count as toys in DCs heads just as much as small world/lego type toys.

DS1 (7) is only getting one obvious toy this year (lego)...the other stuff he has asked for is either sports equipment or dressing up clothes.
