I’m due to have a baby in December and I need to make as much money as possible. I breed Maine Coon cats and I have a gorgeous litter that I’m selling in order to put aside to add to the money I’m making for a deposit for a house…. Anyway my window was broken and my mum said my stepdad could come & fix it for me, no worries. So he fixed it and the following week I was sat with my mum & she said “don’t you think you should give Graham one of your kittens?!” For reference his never had to work a day in his life and owns several properties & they live very comfortably. I’m struggling to get by right now so I replied “mum it’s a business and you already have 3 cats he doesn’t even look at anyway”. I just thought what a bloody cheek. He virtue signals that he just wants to help (the window still isn’t fixed by the way) and that he cares so much about my well-being but is happy to watch me struggle (fine by me) but behind my back thinks because he fixed my window and made a call that I didn’t ask him to make to the landlord that won’t sort out the damp issue that he is deserving on a kitten I’m going to sell for £700!!!!!!

As others have said I think it is also your mum and he does not sound like much of a diy person if you cannot open the window properly.

Don't ever ask them for anything again, contact your landlord and they have to fix these issues and promptly.
They know your situation and have not offered to help and instead your mum has the cheek to ask for a kitten. Keep minimum contact and do not let her know any of your personal business. Good luck with the baby.

They probably wants the kitten to sell on, and will explain it away as having been lost, snatched or died when you ask about it within a month or two.

QueenBitch666 · 13/11/2023 20:26

Maybe get a job that doesn't exploit animals?
I guess that would mean putting some hard graft in 🙄
ADOPT DONT SHOP

Whys everyone being dickish?

Good on op for making some extra income.

But as MrsTerryPratchett says, I don't think Graham is the problem.

The only person being dickish is the op for breeding animals unregulated. It's illegal for a reason!

‘I’m due to have a baby in December and I need to make as much money as possible’

So you decide to use your cat to make a quick buck? I hope you’re registered.

@CorvusPurpureus

adopt don’t shop if you like but all my kittens go to lovely homes. They are fixed too. My stud and queen have a good quality life and are not locked in bloody cages. I know people that brag about adopting kittens from shelters but smoke cigarettes around them and neglect the poor f&@“kers

& you're registered? Right?

Or you've just got two unneutered cats firing out random kittens so you can 'make as much money as possible'?

& maine coons. Of ALL the breeds.

'My stud and queen' - in one household where money is obviously already short? Where do they both live?

Nagado · 13/11/2023 22:31

So your mum wants you to give him the equivalent of £700 for a shoddy bodge job that you’re going to have to spend extra money on to put right?

I wonder whose idea that was.

welcometothnuthouse · 14/11/2023 09:18

OP doesn't even answer about being registered but hey it will turn out she has pedigrees for the cats and god knows what. In a set up where she needs the money....🤔
People are cynical for a reason OP, like me they are more concerned about the animals welfare than your dodgy window and grabby dm.

Excited101 · 14/11/2023 09:26

Every time one of your kittens is sold to someone, another kitten or cat stays living in a cage somewhere- it’s that simple.

there are much more lucrative ways of making money, unless you don’t care for them properly. Queens can eat up to 10-12 pouches a day plus unlimited supplies of kibble, that soon adds up with the litter too. How many litters has that poor cat had? How many times has she been raped to have them?

PictureOfFlorianTray · 14/11/2023 11:07

Is your landlord happy to let you breed cats on their property?

You have summed up why I generally choose animals over humans any day.
So selfish on many levels.

Thedm · 14/11/2023 20:39

Why didn’t you just call your landlord?

Sickofit189 · 16/11/2023 19:20

@welcometothnuthouse oh my god, my nan said the exact same thing!

I don't understand why step dad is getting the anger from you? Your mum seems to be the one who volunteered his help. Then asked for a cat. Does Graham even want a cat.

Also £700!! Is that for one cat?!

Pancakeorcrepe · 16/11/2023 19:34

Yabu for using your poor cat to make a quick buck. Find a job or income that doesn’t rely on exploring animals to make a living.

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 16/11/2023 19:36

Your poor dcat.

Why not get a job op?
