Working in schools

I currently work in a school part time as support staff. Ive always wanted to become a primary teacher but just wanted people's opinion.

Most schools I've worked in are cliquey, and it puts me off, are all schools like this?
Are staff supportive of each other?
Is it worth it?

The current school I work in don't believe I can do anymore than I'm already doing. I'm literally there to make up the numbers.

Some staff have made me feel like no one likes me there. Some staff are bitchy, two faced. Walk around like they're in charge. Bossy. Then you get the nice staff who I actually get along really well with who are supportive. Can schools be toxic environments to work in?

Asking for people's experiences good and bad please.

Thank you.

What would you call the environment you're already working in, if not toxic?

Most depends on the school and the leadership. But all businesses have people who can be cliquey and bitchy, it's not confined to schools.
One person's experience won't give you an idea of what to expect.
If you want to train as a primary teacher then go for it. You can change schools if one job doesn't suit you.

I’m school support staff, albeit a private school.

It’s a little bit cliquey but not unpleasant at all and it’s a very supportive environment.

Support roles vs teaching are very very different so it’s no wonder a divide becomes apparent, however as a general rule we all get on really well and it’s a supportive.
