To think that having two bouts of mastitis within 4 months isn't normal?

I'm not breastfeeding. The last time I breastfed was 4 years ago. I'm in agony and the GP last time sent me to the cancer unit, when it was just mastitis (by the time I got seen it had already resolved itself). However I'm not sure where else I could be referred to.

Have you got cysts in your breasts? Cysts can react to your hormones and become inflamed and infected, are you under the care of a breast specialist? If not ask to be referred.

How would I know? I have a golf ball size protuberance on my left breast (just like last time). The breast clinic discharged me (for the mastitis) and did look into some odd growths from the other nipple (at my insistence). Was discharged too, and now on. 2 year waiting list for a dermatology appointment.

Sounds an odd question- but do you smoke? Recurrent breast infections are most common in smokers

No, have never smoked in my entire life. I do have inverted nipples (which I think is the culprit).
