AGA 60 vs AGA R3 Series 100.

Hi, DH and I have always had an AGA as they came with the properties we've lived in separately and together.

Now we're moving to a new place and would like to buy our very first own AGA.
We've saved, crimped and gone with no holidays for 5 years to afford one.

Issue is, we've put a deposit on a AGA 60 but since then, I can't help looking at other models, especially the R3, 100 with two hotplates.

I guess I'm trying to make sure we're certain of our choice before it's all locked in. We've thought and talked about it for so long yet now that the time is here, my mind is darting all over.

DH is happy with the 60 but he's more driven by cost as it's cheaper than we'd budgeted.

We're moving into a small place where it will be just the two of us and we don't entertain frequently.
However, this won't be our forever home.
We'll probably move in 10 - 15 years time to a place slightly bigger.

Wwyd and UABU - the 60 is plenty.
UANBU - the R3 100 is the way to go.

Thanks.

Am I right in thinking the 60 is an on/off slim model and the R3 a more traditional on all the time 3 oven model?

Do you have another source of cooking as it’s very hot indeed with an Aga on the summer (we are ok into mid-20s and then it goes off)

What kind of cooking do you do? Lots of hob top or prefer to roast/bake?

We have inherited a wonderful 5 door old beast with two hob plates and a warming hot plate, it’s absolutely amazing for our style of cooking. But it wouldn’t suit everyone for sure

Got to be honest - if you don't plan on staying in your house forever then I probably wouldn't get an AGA. For every buyer who is pleased with the idea of one, there will be two who are put off.

If I were buying a house with an AGA I would want it to be the one with two hotplates.

Agree

People who want an Aga will want a ‘proper’ Aga so I’d go bigger.

The small one (assuming I have the right version) strikes me as neither here nor there. Is it an Aga or a normal but slow to heat up oven made by Aga?

If your dream is a proper Aga I wouldn’t get the little on/off one

@SaltyGod @CruCru ,

Thanks.

Yes the 60 is a slim On/Off.
I'm mostly an oven cook but it would be our only cooker.

We had the 5 door beauty and loved it, but it had come with the property and would certainly be too big Dr our new place.

Especially love the warming plate on top which makes it feel like a proper Aga.

We would take it with us and put a standard cooker back in its place when moving.

The 60 is a fact iron with on/off option so not on all the time but can be timed to be on at certain times.
