Cutting out Champagne to economise?

Went out with a small group for lunch, to a nice hotel. Meal was a set price, drinks extra. One lady declined to order a glass of champage and had a small coke instead, because she was economising, to pay for a flight upgrade on an expensive holiday abroad next year.

Is this unreasonable?

But a lot of small things can add up a lot over the year

And people can drink whatever they prefer

I’m assuming this is a reverse?

I no longer drink alcohol, gave up in January and have saved an embarrassing amount of money.

There have been a few occasions where friends have been clearly inconvenienced by having to do a little arithmetic rather than splitting the bill six ways etc but as I am sober, I can do the maths and nobody cares too much. If your friends are giving you grief about this, they’re shit friends.

If this isn’t a reverse, you are the shit friend

Why does it matter?

tttigress · 12/11/2023 09:30

Personally I don't like champagne, so that would be me!

I agree maybe be they don't want to drink, but why is this so unreadable? Drinking makes me feel ill after 1 or 2 drinks.

tttigress · 12/11/2023 09:31

Unreasonable not unreadable!

Why would you make a thread out of this?

She’s your friend and she shouldn’t have to explain why she’s not drinking and she shouldn’t have to have a thread made about her simply because she’s not drinking alcohol.

Her reasons make perfect sense and most people would do things cheaper in some areas, to use the money for something else instead.

I hope this is a reverse, else you sound like a shitty friend.
