Dental help!

I have lost one of my front teeth. I've now had a dental implant but need to wait 12 weeks before the crown can be fitted. I had a temporary tooth put in but 2 days later it fell out, literally not eating on it, it just fell out.

I went back to the dentist and he refitted it and 2 days later it fell out again. I'm seeing him on Tuesday but how will I get through the next 12 weeks?!

i look awful. I've got friends to stay next weekend, a wedding the weekend after, Christmas etc. How can I keep it in? The dental glue didn't work as there's nothing to stick to, I'm only eating soft food on the other side, the 12 weeks can't be brought forward. Help!!!

Is there any way of covering my mouth without looking completely weird at a wedding? Only joking but I just can't face all these things

I had two incisors replaced with implants & my dentist had a plate made for me to wear during the healing period. It's surely the only option as, like you say, there's nothing to bond a temporary crown to.

Hi ,
we deal with temporary replacement of front teeth often , when a patient is waiting for us to fit an implant . Please discuss it with your dentists , you can have different options including a removable clear aligner or an acrylic temporary denture .

please bear in mind that after placing implant in the jaw bone, sometimes we do not place the crown ( tooth ) on top of it for another few months so overall you’ll have a gap for a longer term .

good luck with your treatment !

I’ve just through exactly the same OP. Had my front tooth removed almost two weeks ago. My dentist is excellent, and gave me three options: a bridge where a new temporary crown is glued to the tooth next to it; a temporary crown glued with composite, and a clear retainer with the missing tooth “filled in”.

I went for the 2nd option, he used composite to bond this temporary tooth to the two teeth next to it. I’m not using it to eat either, being very careful, and so far so good. I’m worried it will fall off at some point but then I’ll cross that bridge when it comes.
