Dropped oily food on brand new Ugg boot

What can I do ? I never owned proper uggs when they were trendy many years ago because I could never afford them. I just got my first ever pair and they're so comfy.

I immediately sprayed them with suede protector spray.. later on I was cooking and loving life in my comfy new uggs, when I dropped an oily tomato on them.

Two oil stains have remained.

Is there any hope ? I'm heartbroken..

I know Uggs are ugly but they're so comfy and warm. I love them !

Have you tried putting them in a metal dustbin, setting fire to them, and then standing well back (with a bucket of water for health and safety reasons).

At least that’s funny!

I have some Uggs in the back of my wardrobe. Time for an outside airing I think.

3luckystars · 09/11/2023 09:13

They are very much back in fashion here too and a lot of people wear them outside.

rileynexttime · 09/11/2023 09:14

Another vote for Fairy liquid. I've tried many things to get grease of clothes made of that thick jersey like cotton and fairy works best.

Davros · 09/11/2023 09:15

I got water tide marks out of a pair of Ugg boots with Magic Eraser. I would follow the other advice for a greasy stain but keep this in mind for the future. Good luck, buy some slippers!

Sexlivesofthepotatomen · 09/11/2023 09:20

I have 3 pairs, never stopped wearing them, plenty of people I know have them too...and wear them outside

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/11/2023 09:27

I have Ugg-type sheepskin boots from Celtic that are machine washable. Are you sure you can’t wash them? Or else I’d try applying a little delicate/woolly wash to the stain with a nail brush, and rinse well afterwards.

This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while 😂

Don't put hot water on the stain, this will cook the stain in.
Fairy liquid is probably the best option, others are salt, bicarbonate of soda and oxy stain remover.

Useless to tell you this in November but leaving them out in the sun would fade the stain too.

In future use powder while the stain is wet to absorb most of the moisture and clean straight away. Good luck!

@IsadoraQuagmire yes sorry I didn't mean it was just under 18's wearing them, just that they seem very popular with teens! I'm mid 20's and have got myself a pair of pink ultra minis Smile

No, I know you didn't mean that 😊 Your pink ones sound LOVELY!

SofiYol · 09/11/2023 10:06

You can wash them in the machine - it says so on the UGG website.

Just need to put them in a mesh bag and on a cool delicate cycle.

Whaaat ?? Of course I'm going to wear them outside !!they're not slippers !

I thought they must be slippers also!

camberlian · 09/11/2023 10:55

I thought slippers too 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sexlivesofthepotatomen · 09/11/2023 11:04

Why are people saying they are slippers when OP has described them as Ugg BOOTS - or are you just being snarky because you don't like them?

She was wearing them inside whilst cooking. Either they’re inside shoes or outside shoes. Who wears actual outdoor boots whilst cooking?

Sexlivesofthepotatomen · 09/11/2023 11:10

I wear outside shoes inside, and yes, quite often cook in them if I CBA taking them off...the horror

nutsnutspistachionuts · 09/11/2023 11:14

Who had "pretending never to have heard of something that you personally think is common" on their bingo cards?

MrsWimpy · 09/11/2023 11:16

@Thedm someone needs to tell my 17 year old DD and her many friends who are wearing them this year.

nicky2512 · 09/11/2023 11:18

21 year old dd and her friends are all in uggs. Thankfully dds feet haven’t grown and she’s wearing the ones she got for Christmas when she was about 13!

Nuca · 09/11/2023 11:21

Do people not wear shoes inside to break them in before wearing them properly? Uggs are something that I would definitely break in a bit first otherwise they rub the first few times

I love on mumsnet that if you don't do something yourself then you can't even comprehend the fact that someone else may do it or may do something different to you

diddl · 09/11/2023 11:23

I haven't done that for years

uggggh · 09/11/2023 11:30

I wear outside shoes downstairs all the time. I also never ask my visitors to take off their shoes.

I have tiles and wood floors downstairs. I don't own slippers so I'm either bare foot / socks or I'm wearing my shoes whilst I'm downstairs.

No biggie I think !

Sorry-when you put that "two oil stains have remained" I took it that there were more but you hadn't got them all out.😊

Can only think of something like cornstarch but probably too late for that now.
