I've been burned buying on vinted, what to do now?

I bought a winter coat on vinted which was advertised as being in "very good" condition. I got it yesterday, quickly tried it on without giving it a proper going over and thought it was fine so I left positive feedback.

I wore it out for the first time today and the problems became clear. The filling has separated and clumped up in areas all over the coat leaving some areas with no filling and others with too much. None of that was mentioned in the ad or during the buying process.

It looks a bit crap and after it on for half an hour my clothes underneath were virtually stuck to me.

WWYD?

I don't get how it stuck to you? Unless its too warm and caused you to sweat?
Check the care label it will tell you if it's down or a man made fibre. If it's down give it some serious shaking and the feathers will declump. It's not unusual for down to clump if it's been tightly wrapped.
If it's a down coat, it will come right, the fact it's longer means it will be more like a sleeping bag and keep you ultra warm on cold days. If it is down, I think you got a good buy.

I am not sure the seller has done anything wrong here tbh

Gloriousgardener11 · 08/11/2023 17:28

I'd put it back on sale and be honest about its condition.
Can you manipulate the filling a bit so it doesn't fell lumpy bumpy in places and thin in others ?

Why were your clothes stuck to you?

God knows. I was only wearing a thin satin-like shirt underneath but it made me terribly sweaty and uncomfortable.

I’ve got a coat like this. I wash it. Give it a really good shake and stick in the dryer with some tennis balls and the filling sorts itself out

Prettypaisleyslippers · 08/11/2023 17:54

Check washing instruction, I would be tempted to say try a 30c wash, dry a bit on radiator, then light tumble dry, if feathers then 2 clean tennis balls in dryer, sounds like thunder but works yo refluff it up

Oh I see. That's possibly because synthetic coats just are terribly sweaty tbh!

@Stacia544 - check your shirt aswell - bet ya it was polyester or a man made fiber which doesn't allow your skin to breath and can cause you to sweat
