To eat Christmas pudding in November?!

I love Christmas pudding but have never ever had it other than Christmas Day. I have just thrown all the rules out the window and had some tonight.

I bought it this afternoon but DC told me it was all sorts of wrong so I put it away.

After spending 4 bloody hours finishing a report tonight I have just had some. Why is Xmas pudding only for Xmas?!

I've been having it for breakfast since they started coming out in the shops. Lovely crumbled over some yoghurt with an extra sprinkle of nuts!

Sloggingon · 07/11/2023 23:51

Oops. Realise I have probably broken the rules posting something Christmassy outside the Christmas area.

Ooo that sounds good.

I had my first piece of Christmas cake today! I regret nothing! It's probably good for you anyway. It's full of fruit and nuts and it's old. Old stuff is better for some reason.

Growlybear83 · 07/11/2023 23:54

It's not just for Christmas - we eat xmas pud all year.

I think the fact you're (quite sensibly) eating it in November, that makes it ok.Grin

I love Xmas pud but we haven't bought it for years as we never want it after Xmas lunch.

Sloggingon · 07/11/2023 23:57

I think I've got heartburn starting! Bloody middle age.

Treat yourself, pal. I sat like Bruce Bogtrotter and munched a whole pack of mince pies instead of dinner at the weekend.

You'd think I'd put up a Christmas tree in July the way my DP was looking at me. Fuck him. No regrets.

I'm definitely in the Christmas starts too early camp but that does not extend to baked goods.

Sloggingon · 08/11/2023 00:04

DS1 reckons mince pies are for the Xmas season and not Xmas day so therefore allowed.

I wonder if Bailey's tastes good in November too?!!

Personally I think YABU but then I am a massive hypocrite who eats Easter eggs as soon as they appear in February. So, carry on.

NotMyCircusAnymore · 08/11/2023 00:06

@Sloggingon Bailey's tastes good so year round. They released a pina colada one in the summer!

Though I think when it comes to original flavour, Ballycastle is the best!

Unless DS is actually Santa in disguise, tell him to mind his festive business. Eat your pudding.

And Bailey's is permitted all year round. Although, ASDA just brought out an espresso martini cream liqueur which might mean Bailey's gets the boot.

Sloggingon · 08/11/2023 00:13

Haven't heard of Ballycastle but I love the place so will seek it out.

Easter eggs before Easter!! Shocking.

Oh, espresso martini liqueur also sounds good. That would have made my report writing more interesting!

How do people like it?! 😫
Yabu on grounds of taste not timing 😋i eat hot cross buns out of season. Chocolate ones are my fav. I'm so hungry rn 😫

saoirse31 · 08/11/2023 00:43

Christmas pudding is delicious! You are perfectly, undisputably correct!!!! Im envious!!!!

See, I can't stand stand hot cross buns. Mind you, they pale on comparison to the other seasonal horror, Panettone at Christmas. That stuff is grim.

FourChimneys · 08/11/2023 09:02

I don't like it but I'm sure DH would eat it on a daily basis if he could be bothered to organise it.

Ragwort · 08/11/2023 09:05

YANBU-I love Christmas pudding but struggle to eat it on Christmas Day after the massive lunch (yes,I know I could eat smaller portions .... Grin) much more sensible to have some on another occasion.

squashi · 08/11/2023 09:06

Definitely NOT unreasonable. You've made me want some.

ThinWomansBrain · 08/11/2023 09:12

Of course you have to eat it before Christmas, you have to try lots - how else do you test which supermarket has the best one for Christmas day?

Am thinking Christmas Pudding would be a great topper for porridge.
With some yogurt.

I think you're okay here. The whole point of your post is that it's not Christmas now.

I second this! Also, someone needs to tell me if the delicious sounding Asda espresso martini liqueur is as nice as the name suggests.

Justlovedogs · 08/11/2023 09:56

Crack open the pudding, OP.
We buy the little individual ones and eat them whenever we fancy, anytime of the year. In fact, we probably eat more Christmas pudding when it's not Christmas than when it is! Grin
