To go to the GP with this? Or treat it myself?

Apologies, a ‘should I go to the GP thread?’

I burned my face with my hair curler tonight. I applied cold water etc to it and did all the usual burn first aid treatment, but would I be unreasonable to try and get an appointment with the GP or practice nurse (or anyone medically trained) to look at it to check it’s not a serious burn? For context, I don’t actually know how badly it was burned. I have no sensation in part of my face and can’t feel anything- I can touch, pinch, punch, scratch, burn etc etc without even realising I’m touching my skin at all. I was curling my hair tonight and didn’t realise the curler was leaning against that part of my face because I can’t feel it at all and it’s burned it pretty badly. I know usually you can differentiate a severe burn by if you can feel pain or if not or how severe it felt at the time of the burn but I can’t feel it anyway so that doesn’t apply, and I suppose I just want to make sure it’s not a serious burn.

sorry- probably an obvious one but just a bit unsure. Would it be ok to get a gp or nurse just to check it for my own reassurance? Or should I see how it heals first? Or could a pharmacist look at it?

thanks.

Get it checked out by practice nurse or a local minor injuries unit. If you can’t feel that part of your face, you don’t know how significant it is.

Can you post a photo? Close up so you are not identified?

Gp is not the right place for burns. Urgent treatment centre for this.
