To expect cenotaph to be left alone near remembrance

Remembrance day has significant meaning for many.
Is it too much to expect people to protest elsewhere.

I guess for me my grandfather fought for this country's freedom. He lost friends and a family member. His uncle was a prisoner of war.

I think of the sacrifice of others over the years in silent reflection. Please protest somewhere else.

Nobody's planning to demonstrate at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday (with the exception of various actual fascists, who turn up every year, and anti-fascists who oppose them).

There are anti-war demos happening in central London on Sat 10th, the organisers of which have already said they have no plans to target the Cenotaph.

However it is almost directly outside Downing Street, which as the home of the Prime Minister, is regularly the scene of protests about UK Govt policy. And so it's VU of you to expect people not to hold demonstrations there. Protesting against a war, and campaigning for peace, is entirely in line with what Remembrance events are supposed to be about!

@Longtimelurkerfinallyposts it is 11th November on Saturday.
This is a significant date as it marks the end of WW1.
Sadly there are very many people in today's UK, who have no understanding of or respect for the UK's war dead.
Perhaps you are one of them?

They close Whitehall well ahead of the formal services on the Sunday, to allow for full security sweep (as major Royals will be loose on foot). If there are protestors, they don't get near until after the march past (because of the police and civilian marshalls)

There are no formal events AFAIK on 11th, so I doubt the routine security operation will be in full swing. If there are additional security plans for this year, no-one's talking about them.
