Help.. What are these bites?

NCAGAIN30 · 03/11/2023 16:38

I'd appreciate some help/advice please...

DD is covered in these bites. They are on her legs, arms, back, chest and face. They don't seem to be usually mosquito bites that we get (we live in a hot climate). They are very dry with a red circular ring around them.

Any ideas?

That looks like ringworm. Fungal infection.

WhateverMate · 03/11/2023 16:40

Looks like a bad case of ringworm?

Flipdiddle · 03/11/2023 16:41

scabies

you need prescription meds

UpaladderwatchingTV · 03/11/2023 16:41

It does look like ringworm OP. I had it once on my arm and it eventually just disappeared of it's own accord, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It doesn't look like scabies.

NCAGAIN30 · 03/11/2023 16:52

Ah shit! What's the next steps to take do you think?

Ringworm cream works really well OP.

Can you get some from a Pharmacy?

FloofCloud · 03/11/2023 17:08

I'd say ringworm too. Show pharmacist tomorrow and confirm and pick up some cream

RedRiverShore4 · 03/11/2023 17:12

I had ringworm on my hand and used DH's Dakarin athletes foot cream and it disappeared after a week or two. If you take DD to the pharmacy there is probably a cream that is a bit more targeted to ringworm and pharmacist can look at it

hedgehoglurker · 03/11/2023 17:14

Yes ringworm looks likely. You'd need antifungal cream that is used for athletes foot/ thrush/ jock itch. Miconazole or clotrimazole are usually used in UK.

It's not a worm and is very common. Look it up so you can help prevent re-infection and spreading to others.

RedRiverShore4 · 03/11/2023 17:16

I see you are not in the UK so pharmacy procedure might be different where you are

AmyandPhilipfan · 03/11/2023 17:19

We've had very similar looking rashes in our family recently and at first I got a cream from the chemist for ringworm but it made no difference and when I went to the Dr with my daughter she said Scabies. Which is a bloody nightmare as it involves top to toe cream for the whole family twice, a week apart, and washing all bedding and towels.

NCAGAIN30 · 05/11/2023 18:02

So it is ringworm unfortunately 😭 DD has some cream to use to help clear it up.

Turns out that the cat we adopted a few weeks ago has it. She has it bad poor thing. The vet had shaved her bald and we now need to isolate her for weeks 😭 She must be creamed twice a day, shampooed every other day as well as oral medication. The next few weeks are going to be hell for us all!

Thank you for your suggestions.

Oh what a poor little cat! Hopefully both recover soon.
