Posting for traffic!

I order takeaways WAY too often and as I’m on my fitness journey, I’d really like to eat better. I have binge eating disorder so won’t be counting calories as life gets difficult when I start to restrict foods. I would like to eat healthier meals on a day to day basis and I thought maybe starting with something like Hello Fresh may be a good idea.

I looked into Lions Prep and I think I’d like the meals they provide but I want to stop being lazy and actually start cooking. Anyone can chuck a meal in the microwave so maybe it’s better for me to start with Hello Fresh and follow the recipes. For those that use these sorts of services, how have you found it? Is it worth the money or do you think it’s a faff? Interested to hear views, thank you!

Gousto I prefer but some recipes are a little harder than hello fresh depending on your skill level and equipment you have

I get HF and would recommend it. I cook for 5 every day so well used to cooking but for me it was just the constant stress of meal planning got to me so I said I'd do it for a few weeks and am still at it months later. There's a lot of cooking in it but I guess that's the point, it's not processed. I like the simplicity of just following and not thinking and I keep all the successful recipes for future reference. I also realised our veggie portions were way too small before.

@CeeChynaa of you need to cook different meals I would suggest seeing if there are any things you can make that overlap e.g. a vegetable stew and then split in two- add meat to one (if the issue was vegetarian) or cook something like a rice dish that can go on two plates and then add a tin of different sauces

I know you're keen for fresh but tinned food often isnt an ultra processed food therefore not unhealthy and might save money and time x

Thank you for the comments guys! I’ll look around and I’ll certainly give one of these companies a go. Even if it’s just for a month or so

Hello Fresh is definitely good if your aren't great at cooking, we've used it a few times to get new ideas and found the portion sizes to be decent.

I think it suits people that aren't in to cooking and don't like meal planning.
