Best pumping schedule

Only posting here as I got nothing back on infant feeding and got a lot of comments on my other threads posting on here.

What's the best schedule to go on? As I've said on another thread I'll be doing from the start. Any advice and tips. Be much appreciated

Tia 😊

Not sure if this will be helpful but as you've not had a response I'll post just in case. I wasn't solely pumping but I was far more successful with my second than my first. Things I did differently were stopping after 20 minutes of massaging then pumping. Also using hand pump in addition to my electric double pump. At least once over night and making sure I was hydrated. I aimed for every 3 hours as a minimum.

I'm an exclusive pumper, so happy to answer any questions. My baby is now 4 months old.

If you have Facebook, join Exclusive Pumping UK Mums for tips and sample schedules.

In the beginning, I pumped 9 times a day, spaced 2-3 hours. 2 of my pumps were between 1am and 5am where your prolactin is highest. The exact times didn't matter too much, as long as there was 2 hours (from start of pumping session) between.

Get yourself a hospital grade pump like the spectra and a wearable pump like the elvie or momcpzy/ Pipetta. The hospital grade will help build your supply and the wearable is a godsend when you are on the go.

I forgot to add, I'm now on 5 pumps day. The hard work at the beginning built my supply, so at 12 weeks I was able to start dropping pumps.

You have to do at least 8 per day to start with, as per previous poster 9 is a good amount and make sure you do some at night to start with.

if you want to build up supply then you can do some power pump sessions : 10 -15 min pump, 10 min break, 10-15 min pump, 10 min break and then 10-15 min pump. That will count as 3 sessions. You only need to do it for the first few weeks, once the supply is good you can stop.

try to relax when pumping and not just stare at the amount you are getting. Easier said than done but watch tv etc, read things online anything to distract you.

Ideally pump each time baby drinks but it’s ok if it’s not completely aligned.

My tips- especially at first regular pumping (3hourly) including 1 overnight between 1-5pm.
An electric pump, and I used hair bobbles to make hands free so I could do housework/baby care whilst pumping (battery operated pump)
Using breast compressions/breast massage whilst pumping - https://spectra-baby.com.au/blogs/all/breast-compressions-massage-pumping#:~:text=Using%20breast%20compressions%20and%20massage,out%20of%20their%20pumping%20session.
Multiple pump sets, and I used to keep one on fridge and put in a plastic bag and use a few times (that is mentioned on the kellymom website)
Milton cold water steriliser was easier than an electric one.

If i was doing again I would buy a double pump
