To feel a new appreciation for care/retail staff

Or hospitality staff, anybody who's really underpaid. I worked in care for a couple of years, I still do every now and again but it's no longer my main job.
The care company has taken on a lot of overseas employees on sponsorship, to help them to obtain a visa here.
Most of them are working all day, 6 or 7 days a week. One of them told me how rich she feels here compared to in her home country, how much better the money is. It really touched me, how grateful she was.
The care staff, including me, are paid approx £11 an hour.
I recently started an office role where I'm on closer to £13 an hour. I really don't work hard. I'm not saying my work has no value, obviously it's a contribution, but compared to the care work I did, it's nothing.
Obviously cannot speak for all office jobs, many are indeed very stressful and people are overwhelmed/overworked.
Not only that, but all the benefits that many office staff get like Flexi time and hybrid working.
Same for retail, hospitality staff. It's all physically tough, on your feet all day, for barely above minimum wage, no decent pension, no other real benefits.
It's just wrong tbh, but I don't see it chanting.

There's good and bad in everything.

Through my work I've met some fantastic carers and equally some terrible ones who I've had to report. It's not an easy job but it's also one that's so important to get right when caring for extremely vulnerable people.

Hospitality is pretty much the same in the sense that you'll come across those good at their job and those who are not.

I've worked with the public for 40+ years and some of them can really make or break your day.

Yes, absolutely. It's a shame there are definitely some who do not care, and who don't treat clients/residents correctly.
