To call in sick tomorrow?

I'm a dental nurse with 2 young kids. With it being half term I asked for tomorrow off but it was refused.

We're now all genuinely unwell. I've had awful cold/flu since Thursday, I have no energy , not getting any sleep from coughing etc.

DD has had diarreah today so not sure it's fair to go to nursery for her. DF was due to have eldest DS while I was at work but he's now left work early today and gone bed with the same symptoms as me. DH was due at work but he's now got nausea and diarreah.

I don't know what to do as they will probably think I'm calling in sick as my holiday was refused!

No question. I'd definitely call in sick. If they think you're being dishonest they can take rup with you when you get back but you have nothing to feel guilty about. No patient is going to want you coughing all over them!

The D&V on top of cold symptoms is typical symptoms of the newest Covid variant so I'd test if I were you and if it comes up positive you'll have some proof you can show them, just take a time stamped photo of the test with you in the picture so they know it's not off the internet.

Call in sick. Other than anything else, I wouldn't a dental nurse tending to me and leaning over my open mouth when she was clearly unwell.

You could ask for a Dr’s note?

(I do realise this may not be the most realistic suggestion in this day and age, but…)

You're going to have to call in sick if you're too unwell to work, or carer's leave if there is nobody to look after your daughter. She won't be 48hrs clear of D&V to send her to nursery.

Are you yourself too unwell to work? If so then you'll have to call in sick. If not, then your DH will have to look after the DC and you go to work.
