Christmas in Seville

Thinking of escaping to Seville for a short break. What's it like there around Christmas? Will most places be closed if we're there the 24th and the 25th? It would just be DH, DS, DD and me (DC are older teens), but we don't know anyone there. Just wondering what it's like for tourists around Christmas when people are with their families. We could go to other places like Jerez, Malaga...

Hi, me and my family went to Seville last year, Dec 19th -Dec 22nd and loved it. It's a truly magical time at Christmas with lots to see and do. Me, my mom and daughter (18 at the time) frequented the local Christmas markets several times daily, hubby was less interested but loads of historical stuff to do too. We visited a very interesting art museum, honestly the list is endless. We're thinking of going back next Christmas and this time staying for actual Christmas day as we loved it so much. It was a lovely temperature too, so a nice break all round. Everyone was friendly, lots of traditional tapas places. Where we stayed was right in the heart, so all of the modern shops like Zara were also on hand, so ideal for older teens. I think you'll enjoy it. Hope that helps!

I went to Malaga the week before Xmas about 5 years ago. It was a nice escape from the retail hell that accompanies Xmas in this country; everything was much more low key over there. Plus it made a change to sit and watch the world go by on a beach in 21⁰c sunshine.

It is magical. Seville is one of my favourite places at Christmas! There are beautiful outdoor markets, decorations and so much to see & do. I would highly recommend it.

On the 24th shops will be open but will close earlier than other days. The 24th it is a big day in Spain for Xmas and we normally have a big dinner. On the 25th everything will be closed and people have a big lunch.
The 26th is not a bank holiday in Spain so it is back to normal opening times and prepare for New Years Eve.

When I mean close on the 25th, I mean shops and tourist attractions. Some restaurants might be open, maybe the ones in the hotels.

Yes people are with family but on Xmas night they all promenade.it was great.puppets, street flamenco, etc.lively and people alone who tho I'm sure would have preferred to be with someone .. walked about and perhaps felt less excluded.
