What would be a treat?

Yes, I know this isn't a real AIBU question but...
What would you choose for a 'pamper hamper' and what would you buy?

Trying to put together a loving gift for my dd who's recently separated from her lovely dh.

I'd put in chocolates and wine and gin.

Then I'd put in a booklet of vouchers/favours e.g. I'll come and cut your lawn, I'll mind the kids all day Saturday, I'll cook you Sunday lunch or whatever.

JustFrustrated · 29/10/2023 19:07

I'd start by not referring to him as lovely, if theyve sperated. Whilst he may be, right now she needs you 100% behind her.

PonyPatter44 · 29/10/2023 19:11

Surely you know your own daughter better than we do! She might loathe gin and love Baileys, she might hate milk chocolate and prefer plain...

However, if I was your daughter, I'd like plain chocolate ginger, baileys and some decent blue cheese.

Coffeerum · 29/10/2023 19:12

It obviously varies wildly from person to person. Surely you know what your daughter will enjoy?

lennylion · 29/10/2023 19:23

Fluffy socks, posh chocs, alcohol of choice if she drinks, nail stuff, voucher for a treatment?

hotcandle · 29/10/2023 19:31

Absolutely no homemade food.

A candle, Lush bath bomb, book, fluffy socks, hand moisturiser, slippers and chocolate.

Member869894 · 29/10/2023 19:32

A heated blanket.

FlissyPaps · 29/10/2023 19:33

Without sounding awful, only get her a hamper if she would 1000% appreciate it. You’ll know her better than any of us strangers on the internet, so you’ll know what she’ll like.

If she’s going through a tough time, she would probably want company and days out of the house, rather than materialistic tat in a box, sorry.

Hipnotised · 29/10/2023 19:39

Judy, is that you?!

KindaDefinitelyMaybe · 29/10/2023 19:40

Face mask. Deep conditioning treatment. Bath bomb. Wine. Fluffy socks. Nail varnish. Chocolates. Body lotion. And if she doesn't want it, send it to me!

Thursa · 29/10/2023 19:45

It’s snowed here and I’m looking at the next few months of cold weather. In my basket I’d like, fluffy socks, warm blanket, cuddly hot water bottle, hot drink mixes, Baileys, chocolates, bubble bath, moisturiser, nail polish, one of those lip care kits, (my lips are dry and peeling already), a card for the book shop.

CesareBorgia · 29/10/2023 19:46

A big, warm, comforting blanket.

JenniferJuniper80 · 29/10/2023 19:47

She asked for a pamper hamper.
Last year she asked for a F&M good hamper.

I have, so far bought her
Gin,
Chocolate, her favourite perfume, skin care, scented candles, socks, pyjamas.
I wondered if I was missing something obvious.

Thank you for your help. Or lack of!

Yes I know her better than you.. glad to realise that mumsnet is still getting worse every time I ask for help.

In addition to everything you’ve said, maybe a book and a voucher to get her nails done (if she does that!), or nail polish if she does them herself?

AmyDudley · 29/10/2023 19:57

when I was in a similar situation my darling friend (sadly no longer with us) sent me a heated blanket to curl up in and a DVD of 'Howard's Way (which was a private joke between us) so if you can find a DVd that will make her laugh rather than make her sad, some nice chocs or sweets, some of those lotion filled foot sock thingies, some hot chocolate drinks, a good book.
But mostly she will appreciate you are thinking of her, and to know you'll be there with a shoulder to cry on if she needs it.

BrightLightTonight · 29/10/2023 20:32

When I separated from my H, the biggest problem I had was family slagging him iff. We had a very amicable split and hearing family being horrible about him hurt me, so carry on calling him a lovely person.

A pamper hamper sound lovely, I would add promise vouchers, things like 1/2 hour of free moaning, going for coffee, evening drinking wine etc.

Ilovelurchers · 29/10/2023 20:37

Your ideas are nice. A couple of books maybe, or a subscription for 6 months of magazine that reflects her interests - cooking or travel or pets or whatever?

Face cream, lip balm.

Massively fluffy dressing gown.

Hot water bottle of some description.

DNLove · 29/10/2023 20:38

Lol, very good!

scrivette · 29/10/2023 21:44

You have good ideas so far...
A warm/cosy blanket
A houseplant/flowers
Hair mask
Matching hand towel/flannel
Shower gel/hand wash to match the perfume
Voucher she can use online

CarolDunne · 29/10/2023 21:47

I would love a great big vat of filthy dirty macaroni cheese

ArborealArdour · 29/10/2023 22:08

Won't she already have a bottle of her favourite perfume?
If 'pamper' meant beauty stuff I'd get vouchers for a mani + pedi, nail kits with exciting things like decals (i know, I'm boring), exfoliating scrub. Hair mask. I know people like bath stuff but I hate baths so none of that! Your daughter might like it though. High end shampoo 'system'

General warm and comforting things I'd add soft slippers, heated throw, Oodie.

Also not really meant for a 'hamper' and she might have one already but I recently bought a hot air brush kit (AirWrap dupe) and it's been amazing. Still learning how to use it properly but such a game changer compared to just a hairdryer. You don't have to buy something with all the fancy extensions but a hot air brush at least is really good.
