Eating dessert with a fork and spoon

I’m left handed but have always used a knife and fork the quote unquote correct way.

But I’m left handed, so a spoon goes in my left hand. But so does a fork.

So what the fuck am I meant to do with my spoon/fork combo?

The obvious answer is to hold my spoon in my right hand - which I do! But I can’t bloody spoon with it from there so I end up using the edge of it like some sort of shit knife. Or worse, hacking away one handed with my fork, firing tarte au citron across the table.

Is that how right handers do it? AIBU to saw away at my apple pie with my silly little spoon? Why can’t I have a dessert knife?

…don’t even get me started on fountain pens.

use your spoon as you’d use your knife to assist
but use your forks edge to cut

I am right handed and depending on the dessert I will use either a fork or a spoon, but not both. I have never come across a dessert that requires a knife. I am probably not understanding the issue, I will ask my left handed husband in the morning, although he has never mentioned any dessert eating struggles.

Guessing you mean a ‘spork’ or a ‘splayd ’ in which case the cutting edge (if there is one) would be at the top rather than the bottom where you need it if held in your left hand? Ask for a knife if it’s needed. Much better than sending your desert across the table when you try to cut it with force and a blunt object.
