Embarrassed By Weight Gain

I was weighed recently and shocked I was 2 stone heavier.
I was embarrassed I'd underestimated my weight for maybe two or three years.
No idea how quickly I piled it on.
I didn't cry but shock and laughter at my scales saying the wrong thing!

I really wish I’d had the gumption to get on the scales two years before I eventually did. I had gained 3 stone between lockdown1 and December 2022. I thought it would be about 1.5 stone. I felt awful.

It then took a big effort to lose it. Started in early January 2023, reached my target in late August.

It is so much less daunting to nip it in the bud when you’ve only gained for example 6 lbs (I was going to say “easier” but there is nothing easy about losing weight even when it’s only a little bit).

I will now weigh fortnightly which is better than burying my head in the sand. I won’t let it run away with me again.

@TennisWithDeborah I think that's the thing isn't it, so daunting to have to lose a couple of stone and seems like such a long haul it's easy to put it off! I am so cross I have put it off so long.

Im with yoy OP. I've piled it on the past 1.5years. I struggled with anorexia in the past and the weight gain is a massive trigger. Just how much I managed to pack on has surprised me too. Am actively trying not to be too upset over it though, I don't want to fall into bad behaviours again.

Exact same boat. I used to be anorexic but weight has just crept up and then jumped up during lockdowns. Trying to not get upset about it, actually need to loose weight now, but no flipping idea how to do that without falling down the worm hole again.

i have a list somewhere of habits suggested any dieticians to maintain a healthy weight and one is simply to weigh yourself every day. Those that do are more likely to take small steps needed to pull a minor blip back.

I’d love to see that

I have had disordered eating since I was 17. I found a fitness group I loved which changed everything but I hot a bad injury which stopped me. I am always worried about getting back into bad habits when losing weight so am trying to do it sensibly this time to avoid that.
