Not really an AIBU but I have been wondering whether you could stay living where you are born and where generations before you lived, or whether you would feel a need to move away

My parents moved house eight times by the time I was eight, so being settled wasn't a thing. I've never seen the house they lived in when I was born.

I would love to have stayed in the house where my mother and I spent the later part of my childhood and teens, but the arsehole Board of Works decided to sell it and we couldn't afford to buy it.

All this was in suburbs of a capital city. I hate moving house, it's a pain. I hope I never have to do so again.

I have completely relocated twice. My Father was an immigrant so relocated countries and then moved 3 times within England. My English Mother lived overseas for 6 years and lived in 5 different areas over her lifetime though all in the South. We plan to relocate when we retire. DH has lived in two other countries, we almost relocated overseas about 20 years ago.

I would have loved to have stayed where I grew up and love going back to visit relatives. It just was not feasible for us and DM and DF also moved (far) away too.
