DS is 5 he's got a head cold and not the trots but when he does go number 2 it's been a bit runny but otherwise he's in good spirits. We were gonna go soft play this week for half term one day but obvs not now. He's getting cabin fever tho so today I took them out for an hour to the shops as it's quite a warm day, will that make him worse? No risk of passing it on cos we weren't mixing with anyone

I wouldn’t. If he’s got a bad stomach and soft play, have a film day with snacks

Crunchymum · 26/10/2023 13:44

So the shops were empty then?

And you've already taken him? So literally pointless to ask.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 26/10/2023 13:44

Well you've been you are back and all ok so I'd say it's fine!

sollenwir · 26/10/2023 13:45

Staying at home would be best I'd say.

Createausername1970 · 26/10/2023 13:51

It's a judgement call that only you can make, based on two factors:

Is he well enough to stand upright and walk? If so, then he is capable of going out. If he feels wobbly and wants to lie down, then not so much.

Could he potentially pass on anything to someone else via close contact? If that is unlikely, then go out but if it is likely then stay in.

Without seeing him, no-one on here can know.

WeMustGetOffTheMountain · 26/10/2023 13:51

You weren't mixing with anyone? So the shops were completely empty and he didn't touch anything? Staying home is 100% the best option so your LO doesn't give everyone else a cold and the shits. I have been extremely poorly with covid for the past 10 days because I have an auto immune condition and a child at my work was sent in with "sniffles and an upset stomach" and I spent 3 days stuck in bed. So to answer your question, YABU for taking him out poorly. (Not because of covid, that was just my example).

Daisypod · 26/10/2023 14:01

If he's getting cabin fever take him to a park outdoors where he can run around, not shops where you're going to be spreading it around 🙄

Sandsnake · 26/10/2023 14:09

I’d probably keep him in the outdoors rather than busy places. His symptoms sound a lot like the Covid I currently have (heavy cold plus a bit of gastric). Therefore if you can avoid him mixing inside it’s properly best to as its obviously quite contagious. Hope he feels better soon!

CurlewKate · 26/10/2023 14:11

Mine got cabin fever after about 12 hours so I used to take them out-but keep well away from other people. Sometimes I even asked people to keep their distance and explained why. But we live in the country, so it was easy. You certainly won't make them worse-the only issue is infecting other people.

Maray1967 · 26/10/2023 14:11

Yes, park not shops. Take him out for an hour or so to get some fresh air, and then back home.
