Molar pregnancy

Ive just been for an early scan due to pain and have been told they think it might be a molar pregnancy which the nurse described as “like cancer” then took bloods, gave me a leaflet and said to come back in two days. I’m now terrified since looking it up and the “like cancer” comment.
can anyone share their experiences of this? I’m terrified :( x

sorry to hear you are experiencing this. I looked it up and it says on the nhs website that it is rare for a molar pregnancy to turn into cancer and that they are mostly benign. So perhaps it won’t be the worst case scenario. Have you got Someone for support?

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I had a molar pregnancy last December it was horrific. I had to have surgery to evacuate the foetus and moles, and then every 2 weeks until my HCG levels went back down to normal I had to have a blood test.

Since then every month I have had to send off a urine sample to Charing Cross hospital where they test it to ensure that the HCG is still going down. Cancer can occur when the HCG levels either don’t go down, or rise back up. However there is a treatment for this that has a near 100% success rate of curing any cancer that may occur.

Once you are having the regular testing they will be able to tell whether you are at risk or not and the chances are so so slim, you will probably be ok.

I hope you are feeling ok, as any miscarriage is it’s very very difficult. I found it very hard with the lack of information given by my hospital, but ask them if they have any information packages to give to you so that you know what is happening to your body
