Toddler pooing in car park

So no one else was batting an eyelid but there was a toddler sitting on what at first glance looked like a potty next to a car in a supermarket car park doing a poo.
They also did a wee .
Reason I know is because i was sat in the car next to them and it wasn't a potty it was like a little chair with a hole in it for the bodily functions to merrily land on the ground.
The dad was standing watching her and had placed the little chair on the raised diamond area to separate parts of the car park.
This wasn't in a quiet corner this was in a prominent position.
So Really am I being unreasonable to be gobsmacked.

I've seen parents use potties in public a lot and I just don't get it - tbf I've only potty trained one toddler so far but my dd cared too much about privacy to whip her pants off in the street. She'd have cried and been embarrassed. And I think that's ok to be honest, by 2 or 3yo kids should be taught it isn't normal to expose their private parts in front of many strangers.

If they're that urgent that they routinely won't even make it to a loo or a private place a few mins away (eg take the potty into a public loo or at least behind a bush) then they're not ready for training imo. (I don't mean the occasional accident, I mean if you're using the potty in public as your usual way of operating)

I wonder if its the same man I saw have his toddler take a shit at the table in a soft play centre, surrounded by people eating and drinking. Thankfully he did have a bag on the potette.

Only on MN do I read of this. Small children pooping in public everywhere. I never see it. Where do you peeps live? 😀😁

I have seen this happening on occasion.

In addition, I live near a park and have a large back garden with shrubs. I've had *itty nappies chucked in my garden. Yeuch!
