To think nursery will send ds home for this?

Ds often has runny nappies. They smell awful. Been to the doctors a few times when it has happened and they sometimes say viral, sometimes say it’s just him, sometimes just what he’s eaten. He’s been tested and had a sample sent off and all normal. But they often leak through his clothes and are just terrible.

A friend has said he will definitely be sent home. I have no other childcare support so I’m very worried about it

I’m confused

does your child attend a nursery or are you speculating?

If you’re worried
get a note from GP to confirm that innocuous

How old is he? Sometimes teething makes their nappies super grim and runny and smelly due to the increased acid and saliva that goes to their tummy. That’s said, a food diary may also be helpful to keep an eye on it.

nurseries have a protocol they have to follow to prevent outbreaks of D&V. I’d have a read of theories if you can. If they’re one off nappies then they may be more likely to see, as lots of kids have the odd runny nappy. If they’re repeatedly going through they’ll treat it as something to be concerned about and send it home so that the other kids and staff don’t go down with it.

It depends on the nursery.

The first one my DD attended sent her home constantly. The second one took the Dr’s word that runny nappies are common with her medication and got to know what was unusual for her.

He’s not at nursery yet. Starts tomorrow. Again today he’s had a runny one. This has been the case for literally months but he’s putting on weight and not unwell. It’s not d&v.

Depends on age. Maybe. Explain the the nursery at drop off time, his being tested, the GP says his fine.

My little one was like this. Same as yours, samples taken and no issue.

Nursery have been informed and I sent them the link the GP sent me, basically saying it’s “toddler diarrhoea” and not concerning.

If he has three in a day or if he’s unwell with it, they’ll send him home, one or two loose nappies they won’t.

Ive narrowed it down to certain fruits and asked them to avoid giving him oranges and kiwis and he’s fine now.

It does depend on the nursery. DS often had runny poos up to around 2, and nursery appreciated that it was his nature and didn’t complain unless it was water like and therefore very obviously diarrhoea.

However a friend of mine had a call from their nursery to pick up her child every week, and then have the mandatory 2 days off. In the end they did get a GP note to explain there’s nothing wrong with him and that cut back on the number of calls.
