Struggling with no routine on working holiday visa

Me and my partner are currently abroad on a working holiday visa, he is also playing sport out here.

I absolutely love it and we’re having an amazing time, but I am someone who really struggles with no routine.

Partner is contracted to play sport multiple times a week so we can only really go and explore for a night or so. We are currently saving to travel a lot all in one go around Christmas for 3 weeks, as he has this time off, which will be incredible.

We both work on a farm but shifts are sporadic and random and we don’t know what days we will work until the week comes.

When he’s not playing sport we will go on days out, and when he is, I will take myself out alone. But I’m almost bombarded with things I want to try. I want to try and surf, I want to try painting and drawing in the garden, I want to relax and sunbathe, I want to go on scenic walks, I want to try running, I want to try fitness lessons, I want to try yoga, I want to try and grow vegetables…. Honestly I don’t even know where to start. It’s hurting my brain and especially as I don’t always know which days I am needed on the farm.

I know I sound silly but there’s so much on offer, so many places to see and I’m finding it hard to even know where to start.

Sometimes too much choice isn't a good thing. You could try writing down all the things you want to do on little bits of paper, put them in a jar then pick one out at random and that is what you're doing that day?

I'm a listmaker. When planning for an event (holiday trip, Christmas, etc), I make lists and assign tasks to days. When I have a lot of things I want to do or try, I keep a running list and mark things off as I do them and add things to it as they come up.

If I know my time will be limited, sometimes I make lists off my list.. supplies I might need to accomplish something or I research and make a list of steps if it's something new. That way when I do have time, I'm not floundering around so much, I have at least part of a plan in place to use that time wisely.

These days I'm fortunate to have a lot of time, I'm essentially retired, my husband retires next year. I still like my lists!
