To wear an engagement ring on my right hand?

I’m very single - definitely not engaged or likely to be any time soon!

What’s the deal with wearing a deceased family member’s ring that I’ve inherited?

It’s the same colour as my preferred earrings etc and although there is some sentimental value to it, I mostly just think it’s quite pretty.

It only fits my ring fingers - obviously won’t be wearing it on my left hand but is it okay to wear on my right? What do you assume if you see someone wearing just one ring and it’s on the right ring finger? Does it need to be worn in conjunction with rings on other fingers? Don’t have any others that I like particularly.

Apparently in some countries the engagement ring goes on the right ring finger and I definitely don’t want anyone to assume I’m engaged!

Where whatever ring you like on whatever finger you like!

Honestly, the sooner we get rid of the tradition of “coding” which people are owned by other and which aren’t the better

I do the same but sometimes swap hands if I am in Europe

I hate the word deceased.

I thought this was going to be about your own engagement ring!

If you're in the UK, no one will think it's an engagement ring worn on your right hand.

You're over thinking this.

There are no law or rules about rings and where it's ok to wear them.

Wear it however and where ever you like. I very much doubt anyone else will even be interested in where your ring is worn.

I wear my grandmother’s wedding ring on my right ring finger @OhGingleBells and no one has ever thought I’m married, but frankly who cares if they do!

If you like it, wear it! I'm very much a believer that jewellery is to be worn and enjoyed. I wore a blue sapphire ring on my right hand for years whilst single (occasionally swapped it for a large cubic zirconia cocktail ring on a night out). No-one (to my knowledge) thought I was engaged. If I noticed a ring on someone else it would simply be to admire it & I'd assume that it was a dress ring probably if I even gave it that much thought. Don't worry about it! Would love to see a photo if you're willing 😃

When I see an engagement type ring on someone's right ring finger I do wonder if they are divorced.

Really? If I got divorced from DH, I would never wear my engagement ring again!

Me neither.

I've been divorced from my exh for 24 years. I still have my engagement ring but I would never ever wear it.

It's in my will to be left to one of my daughters but tbh I doubt she'll ever wear it either as it isn't her style.

Maybe she'll get it re-set into something else. I won't though, for the same reason I don't want to wear it in its original form.
