Every 4-6 weeks my arse

There’s a Mumsnet promoted post at the moment for Schuh which leads with the headline that you need to measure your children’s feet every 4-6 weeks. It then goes on to warn of the ‘dangers’ if you don’t such as loss of circulation leading to issues with walking

This is pure scaremongering. No child needs to have their feet measured at Schuh and be persuaded to buy new shoes every month. And loss of circulation and similar issues are only a consequence of extreme neglect when it comes to footwear.

Mumsnet, we’re in a cost of living crisis and you shouldn’t run this rubbish. AIBU?

As a trained fitter (not with Schuh), we do recommend getting toddlers feet measured every two months because they really can grow that fast in bursts. Our store will always measure kids feet with absolutely zero obligation. And every day I usually sacrifice at least one sale, if not more, because I don't have the perfect fit and I'm not prepared to sell a pair that won't fit in less than a fortnight or are a size too big and a therefore trip hazard. All my colleagues would do the same.

Schuh suggesting loss of circulation is a ridiculous statement. I have however seen a very badly infected blister from a dreadfully fitted pair of school shoes that were two widths too narrow. Injuries do happen from badly fitting shoes. Rarely, but it is possible.

YANBU although I think there is (was?) a thread on this already.

Have you spoken to MNHQ about it?
