Will insurance pay out or not?

Presuming not but DH drove through standing water this morning. It wasn’t that deep and other cars had managed to get through but DHs car stalled and died and had to be towed away. I’m guessing this isn’t something that insurance can pay out for? Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you

It should be covered as long as the policy doesn't exclude flood or water damage. Have a look at the policy to see what's excluded.

I wouldn't expect that to be covered by insurance although it's not something I've ever looked into.

Sounds like one that could go either way, there will be a clause to the effect that you shouldn't drive recklessly, depending on the circumstances driving through floodwater could be reckless or not - basically was it reasonable to think it was a puddle not a lake? Pics might help

It is covered by insurance. They gave me a brand new engine, the car was only worth about £200 more than the cost of the repairs, but they did it.

Should be covered.

I can't see your insurance paying out for that tbh it's his bad decision that caused it now an accident

Depends on your schedule. I had a claim rejected a few years ago and then they also took away my no claims bonus because I’d claimed at all!

Look at your policy.
When the river broke its banks a couple of years ago our car insurance claim was rejected.

A quick google says that only some policies cover flood damage, and even then it depends on the circumstances.

My policy will cover me for damage if I'm parked in my usual place (or a sensible place like a car park) and there's floods, but they won't cover me if I actively choose to drive through flood waters and it destroys my car.

I'm afraid i have no idea about the wording of your insurance policy. I suggest you read it.
