To think that we can live in a lodge

We have been looking at family homes for a while now. I stumbled across these lodges on rightmove. https://www.goodlifelodge.com/

I've looked at the website and I mentions things such as "part exchange your home" or "sell your home" to get funding for them. So I presume you can live full time in these things.

I love the design and layout of them. I love the idea of waking up to rolling countryside views.

My partner says I'm being ridiculous and that we are not living in a wooden lodge in the middle of nowhere with our baby.

I can't see why it's so bad?

By converting green belt land to brown belt therefore legitimising the right to build on it.

Incorrect, they will use existing brown belt land to the vast majority of new housing.

Not where I live, lots of new builds on green belt land, farmers selling plots of land off to developers.
Meanwhile, in the centre of town there is a large area which was once a thriving community laid barren by previous Labour councillors decision to demolish the housing stock.
This land could be developed for social housing, 30 years later it’s still empty.

Never mind what Labour did 30 years ago. The government has been in power for 13 years, they’ve had every opportunity to build those social houses, they haven’t and it’s a perfect example of the incompetence of the conservatives.

@Z1hun
Brown field sites are contaminated sites. You cannot covert greenfield to brown. You could loosen restriction in the green belt. Examples of brown field sites are garages, old factories etc. I agree - they should be redeveloped when not needed in the green belt but some are rural and are very very expensive to clean up. They also have already been developed so it’s not new development.

Productive land cannot become anything other than a greenfield site. There are numerous brownfield sites but not always where people need to live. Plus who pays for the cleaning up? At the moment it’s the developer. Social housing associations avoid such sites if they can due to cost. The developer must get back costs and these are passed on to the house buyer. Therefore many sites are not attractive to developers in cheaper housing areas. There’s little incentive to clean them up. You only have to look at places like Halifax to see what the issues are regarding brown field sites. In London it’s entirely different.

I looked up the info for a lodge that I have stayed in

X price to buy outright
Leasehold
5000 per year site fees !
Plus electricity, council tax, water bills
Site has laundrette, swimming pool, restaurant, bar

I believe that it would be difficult to get a mortgage on this type of property

They are awful during winter when cold and stormy. No way would I want to
