What should happen in this case? Child support

A relative of mine has a young child. They split up soon after the baby was born .

Resident parent is not working , other parent is working part time I think and on UC. Non resident parent not paying any CS . Their own parents ( grandparents of child) are supporting that stance .

I think they should pay something. If the resident parent went through CMS would they get anything?

Actually non resident parent is living in rent free accommodation so may not be on UC and just living off part time earnings.

Yes, the NRP should be paying 15% of their net pay approximately I think.

Your relative should go through CMS if requests for support are unanswered.

So something then and presumably would go up if they earned more ?

Resident parent has been had a go at for even asking non parent to contribute by the grandparents . Their argument is that what RP gets on UC is more than non RP gets and non RP can’t afford it .

Sadly non RP is not my relative , the non paying RP is ( and their parent is my sibling)
