Lose weight diet only (no exercise)

I need an operation on my hip which is now at stage 4 osteoarthritis after injuries caused by a car accident. The operation will not happen (I was told) for at least 6 months.

In the meantime, I saw a consultant today who said I need to lose weight but that with my level of injury she doesn't expect I can do any exercise.

AIBU to ask your best weight loss methods? But realistic ones that will keep me full...can't live on air!

@TheBabylonian so 6 hour window would mean eating in a 6 hour period and nothing after?
Cant seem to lose any and it's really getting me down now.
I didnt realise how much weight I had actually put on, I'm just under 10 stone and only 5ft 2. Weighed myself in doctors yesterday and I'm almost overweight

I don't understand that LeanTeam lentil soup diet.
It describes "shakes" but there's no mention of shakes in the meal plan.
The DM article mentions shakes, too.

What shakes? What shakes made out where when?

The lentil soup diet is food version of the Counterweight-Plus diet (which is shakes).
My mum works with someone who was prescribed the Counterweight-Plus diet, and it is brutal. The chap on it was not even overweight, but was pre-diabetic. He said the shakes are disgusting. After a few weeks, he was allowed to introduce some veg.

Some excellent suggestions for you here @Hipnotised (love the user name).

can I suggest some chair/upper body exercise just for a bit of cardio and movement.

maybe some yoga or chair Pilates to keep your core flexible etc?

I’d definitely suggest cutting out sugar from brews, have healthy snacks you can grab and learn what healthy (ish) treats work for you. Me - I love a crisp apple and crunchy peanut butter! Some smashed toasted almonds /walnuts with some chilli oil or paprika on.

Calorie counting. I eat an average of 1900 calories a day and am losing 1-2lbs a week,
44lbs down so far
Still have a pizza on a Friday night, still have the odd bit of chocolate.
Batch cooking works for me, fill up the freezer then I don’t make bad choices when I’m tired after work

@lljkk xenobitch is correct - the team reformatted a 'shakes' diet with real food that has the same nutrients.
When I first came across the research I looked at a diet with shakes - they were so crammed with additives it was unbelievable, I actually bought some of the cambridge diet - everything was foul, and obvs v v processed.
this 'real' food alternative is full of veg, you know exactly what's in it - and if you make your own soup it's super cheap.

I did Second Nature and enjoying it. Plate with quarter (preferably complex) carb, quarter protein and half veg. Cut out sugar. No alcohol is best. Fat is ok but don't go overboard. I prefer it to slimming world-a greater focus on healthy eating, and nuts and olive oil, if you like them, are encouraged.

I don't get hungry with this - if you do at first, just eat more lentil soup

Thank you so much for posting this. A small group of my real life friends and family who want to lose weight (and some are pre-diabetic) are going to do this together.

@XenoBitch excellent - I hope you all get on well with it.
I made another huge soup batch last night - 2 kilos, and I make it with as little water as possible and dilute it as I use it, so that it doesn't take up too much space in the fridge & freezer. I think it's about 12 portions, so less than 30p each.
I finished boxing it up and realised the red pepper was still sitting in the fridge - but still tastes good.
