Budgeting or spending

My dh quit his job a few months back. We won't suffer financially in the short term because we have money in a pension pot. We rent and our Ds is in year 10. I work but don't earn much money. I'm now working full time. Dh quit without telling me. I want to economise but dh says there is no need. He spends what he wants and I am scraping around trying to save money and growing more resentful as he spends as I work. I feel uneasy spending if we are running on a deficit
Yabu: spend away
Yanbu: rein it in and save

Do you mean you're living off a pension? Are you pension age?

Is he looking to get another job?

What savings do you have?

towriteyoumustlive · 15/10/2023 21:16

He is spending his pension pot?!?!?!

If he isn't working then you need to budget and not over spend.

He needs to get a job!

using money in a pension pot should be your absolute last resort!

Hi @wurlycurly
Yanbu, rein it in and save x
I wouldn't touch the pension pot, ideally it would be better if your husband gets a job asap.

He is trying to find work! But he is sort of viewing his career break as a holiday and I'm panicking a bit (a fair bit)

Isn't there penalties withdrawing money from pension pot?
