Oh dear, he has much to learn.

Is he in the spare room tonight

YANBU.

Triathlete · 07/03/2008 21:27

Just regard it as "post-ironic" and dead trendy.

Psychomum5 · 07/03/2008 21:27

......am not sure.....

I am not averse to a bottle of 'black tower', but as a decent bottle, I can;t say it is.

now, banrock station, or jacobs creek, well, then that would be more my idea

bran · 07/03/2008 21:27

YANBU. Insert it into your DH where the sun don't shine and he'll soon get the message.

Furball · 07/03/2008 21:28

check the sell by date - is it after 1979?

Kindersurpise · 07/03/2008 21:30

Do they still make Black Tower? Not seen them in years.

minkulus · 07/03/2008 21:32

LOL at Furball

Kindersurpise · 07/03/2008 21:35

Just googled. According to BBC news, the company relaunched BT in 2002 to appeal to a younger market. The company spent 1 million quid to win over younger drinkers.

Did anyone notice?

poppy34 · 07/03/2008 21:48

whilst yanbu I am sort of fascinated that you can find this still (as heard about the relaunch of this -and apparently they relaunched blue nun at about the same time) and as to what was going through your dh's head to think "yes dw would like that"

CodofCodHall · 08/03/2008 13:17

YANBU

I divorced my first husband solely becuase he put a bottle of red wine in the fridge on our honeymoon. I could not bear to be with someone so unrefined.

stoppinattwo · 08/03/2008 13:25

DP thought bhe would really spoil me with a bottle of cherry lambrini

I lauched him

cazzybabs · 08/03/2008 13:28

Kindersurpise - I doubt many of us count as younger drinkers...is this not what a 18 year old uneduated uni student may take to a dinner party.

ALMummy - send him back!

Ulysees · 08/03/2008 13:35

at cod can't say I blame you.

ALMummy · 08/03/2008 19:22

I think there is a method to his madness. I probably have a drink only every six months or so and when I do I like a lovely bottle - Drylands my favourite - and will usually pay between £10 and £15. He is thinking if he can get this one past me then he wont have to shell out that much in the future. Don t think that a decent bottle of wine every 6 months (or more!) is that much to ask.

sorry but i love black tower stone me now and im not that young or a student

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 08/03/2008 19:30

That can't be Cod... the spelling is immaculate.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 08/03/2008 19:32

What sort of white do you like ??

We will give you some suggestions then he can jolly well go and get a decent bottle for you.

And if he has already had a beer and can't drive, tell him to get a taxi.

He will think twice about penny pinching in the future.

Ledodgy · 08/03/2008 19:33

Haha Mn is classy tonight with one mner drinking black tower and another on the Concorde...

ALMummy · 08/03/2008 19:39

Sauvignon is my favourite. I like nice light, pale, crisp white wine. Not big on Chardonnay or anything heavy or syrupy and I like New World wines preferably New Zealand as they use less additives and fertilisers on their grapes. I love Drylands, a New Zealand Sauvignon that I used to get at Oddbins but sadly they dont stock it anymore. Would be grateful for any suggestions that fit my criteria.
