Every Sunday, not for a special
occasion…on my own at about 8am. Asking for a friend… 🙃

Yes! I live in Italy & we eat cake for breakfast every day, you have all day to burn it off then 😀

diddl · 15/10/2023 10:43

I had a chocolate croissant this morning.

Waffles last weekend.

You can buy Frühstückskuchen here-"Breakfast cake"

I regularly eat cake first thing in the morning, if I've recently baked banana bread or chocolate muffins with the kids. Most breakfast cereals are just sugar and carbs anyway. And croissants etc aren't exactly health food! As long as you eat plenty of other food groups throughout the day/week I don't see the problem.

Mammyloveswine · 15/10/2023 10:56

I just had cold leftover Chinese...

Veryangryboy · 15/10/2023 10:58

Cycling and cake? A perfect Sunday morning.

phoenixrosehere · 15/10/2023 10:59

Better earlier in the day than in the late evening.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 15/10/2023 11:00

No one can touch you for it. I do Parkrun/walk most weeks, and the cafe with home made cake at the end keeps me going! My very slim cousin suprised me recently by telling me she has cake every day. Mind blown! Obs a calories in calories out balance, but it gave me a little hope for the future! Grin

they look very tempting, hope there was something nice for you as well.

I have just had wine, I was gutted by the result last night and came to bed relatively early, brought my wine with me.

Woke up, did that horrible remembering thing, looked at two mouthfuls of overnight wine mocking me from the bottom of the glass, decided it matched my mood so skulled it. It tasted as you would expect. 😳😂

Enjoy the cake.

LeefsPrings · 15/10/2023 11:04

Sounds great to me.😍

Rosesandstars · 15/10/2023 11:05

Great idea OP. Even for someone who is not a super-healthy cyclist, eating cake for breakfast rather than in addition to breakfast (later in the day) would result in taking in fewer calories in total but also life is meant to be enjoyed and enjoying eating is part of that!

bruffin · 15/10/2023 11:06

@pizzaHeart

Yes , they had bacon, sausage and eggs, cold meats, cereal ,yoghurt fruit and vegetables ,lots of different breads, a really nice selections. I did treat myself to the mini croissants!

TammyJones · 15/10/2023 11:14

I couldn't face cake first thing in the morning.
Now a full English breakfast- bring it on Grin

@HighEndGrifters

sorry, but what result was that last night?

I feel I've missed something important & it'll bug me all day if I don't ask you.

i bet that wine was lovely 😫

@SnapBang that sounds lovely. I wish we had a nice cafe that was within cycling or walking distance.

Molly54320 · 15/10/2023 11:19

If pancake and potato cake are acceptable for breakfast then any type of cake is.
anyway cake has same ingredients to pancake so what is the difference lol.

KajsaKavat · 15/10/2023 11:21

I had half a cheesecake last night after a night out and I am determined to have the rest shortly. Absolutely acceptable Sunday breakfast!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 15/10/2023 11:22

@DaftQuestionForToday was thinking the same thing!

I ate a trifle for breakfast once. You'll get no judgement here OP 😂

I was going to post this. Left over trifle is an amazing breakfast food.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/10/2023 11:29

I have so far (just) resisted the substantial remains of an Eve’s pudding I made the other day with windfalls from a DD’s garden.
I will however very nobly share it later with dh.
(We’re out of Ambrosia Devon custard ATM anyway.)

zingally · 15/10/2023 11:32

Frankly, there are very few perks to being an adult. And if cake for breakfast is one of them, I say go for it.

HighEndGrifters · 15/10/2023 12:09

@DaftQuestionForToday

Ireland lost to New Zealand.

Olika · 15/10/2023 13:07

My breakfast yesterday was leftover pizza slice and this morning pancake. After reading this thread I fancy some chocolate cake now but there isn't any in the house.

Ha ha thanks everyone!! To add some context - I don’t normally eat breakfast mon-sat. DH and I take it in turns to have a weekend morning each off to exercise. He is out on Sat morning. On a Sunday, I like to get up and go for a cycle. I’ve started going about 7.30am, cycling to this amazing cafe that opens at 8am, sitting and eating cake 😂 and coffee and then cycling back. Showered and ready to go for 9am! DH thinks it’s hysterically funny that I eat cake that early - I’m now wondering if it is odd 😂 there soften no one else at the cafe. I had a gorgeous chocolate cake this morning.

Okay okay, it’s not for a friend..

Love this little routine that probably make you very happy. Eat the damn cake whenever you like!

Presumably the rugby - NZ beat Ireland.
