Need to stop eating out of boredom

My job in an office is unbelievably, mind numbingly boring, hence I'm currently applying for other things with more diversity and challenge. Even the manager frequently comes over and tells us how boring it is.
I know in a way I'm lucky to be able to say that, boredom is a luxury! It could be a lot worse.
However I'm finding that it's messing up my eating habits. I haven't started remote working yet so have a daily long commute.
I find that I'm eating my lunch 3 hours into a shift and end up with 5 hours to go and no food, stomach rumbling by the end of it. I can take my lunch at any time outside of core hours.
Try to have a decent breakfast to keep me going, but apart from eating lunch too early I end up buying rubbish just for something to look forward to during the day, chocolate bars, sweets and so on.
Does anyone else have this problem? It's not ideal combined with sitting at a desk all day (get up for a quick walk around and so on when I can) not sure what the solution is. Hopefully will find a new job!

I'm hoping it'll get better when I start remote work, as I think the long days are making me reach for the sugar more often.

If you have absolutely no work to do, would you be allowed to read a book or something to fill in the time, provided you stayed alert to anything that needs doing OP? If so, you may find that would take your mind off of the constant need to snack. My old employer allowed us to do that during the quiet times, as long as we were always ready to jump to it, the minute some work came in. It earned him a lot of respect, and made the job far less boring during the quiet times.

That a good idea, we don't have enough work generally, always have about 2 hours spare each day. I tend to go on my phone, might start listening to podcasts actually.

I had a very boring office job for quite a while and overate on crisps, chocolate bars etc which I told myself was because I was bored and had no pleasure in my day. Then I got a way more interesting, demanding job and carried on eating those things which I told myself was because of stress and I needed the emotional release. I guess what I’m saying is: there’s potentially always a reason whatever job you’re in or not in, so now is as good a time as any to practice self-discipline about diet and try to make your eating habits healthy independent of whatever the external situation is. Easier said than done I know!
